Where Do You Post? Where Did You Post?

Where Do You Post? Where Did You Post?

I'm more of a lurker than a poster and as such I am active in very few forum communities. I've found those few to be pretty rewarding so I figured I'd pass them along in case anyone here finds something of interest. Conversely, I'm curious where you all post and have posted so I can scope out some new forums and see if I like any of 'em.

So, in the spirit of sharing, here's my list:

Dresden Codak: specifically the Octagon sub-forum. It's chalk-full of scientific and philosophical musings from a secular humanistic, atheistic and/or transhumanistic angle. Requires a login to view, sadly, but I've found the dialog there to be very solid when you can find a topic that interests you. DC doesn't update his comic very often but he does frequent the site's forum.

Civ Fanatics: specifically the Fall from Heaven Mod sub-forum. I'm a Civilization fan but I have been playing the Fall From Heaven 2 mod off and on for more than year. I think the world of it but if you don't care about Civilization or the mods thereof than you probably won't care about this forum. As a side note, if you own Civ4 and the Beyond the Sword expansion I highly encourage you to check out the mod

Galactic Civilizations 2: another video game forum. I was really into this game for quite a while and posted a little here. Mainly, I was drawn to the company's design methodology and heavy emphasis on listening to consumer feedback. I have since exhausted my interest in the GalCiv games but I'm still impressed with Stardock.

Order of the Stick/Giant in the Playground: I actually found my way to the old bb.boy Gaming Den through a post of the Tome of Necromancy there. I don't post here anymore but I do lurk occasionally, mainly to see what's up with Erfworld. I've also found this site to be a good way to see how casual gamers who aren't frothing-at-the-mouth-stupid think about select WotC material. I've been meaning to hit it up for 4th Ed info and opinions to see how they are responding to it.

I'm mostly active in communities that point out bad science in media, advertising and research papers. Oh, and being creatively annoying to Scientologists, which is a rewarding occupation all by itself. I used to belong to the WoTC boards before realising that it wasn't necessary to go snorkelling in stupid every day just to have a discussion about roleplaying.

Nowadays I have little time for actually posting; I lurk around here for months inbetween flurries of sticking my nose into discussions where I'm not wanted before fading once more into silent anonymity. I'm much the same with other online communities; I've only got spare run-time for posting with respect to one thing at a time.

I like to post on this place
I'm so funny.
I also enjoy posting on 4chan, Elliquiy (see other thread somewhere for link) and Logical.

All for different reasons, really. Noteworthy is that 4chan is for the stranger things game systems allow*. And things that help in the fight against Scientology, of course.

I post on here, and I, for the same "can't look away" reason I used to visit WotC, also browse the World of Warcraft forums. Sometimes I visit /tg/, but it isn't very interesting.

OMG! No way! Me too!
I occasionally check WotC, but I think I'll delete the bookmark soon. Fuck that forumn. You guys are actually worth my time.

I sometimes contribute to (and often lurk) The Campaign Builders Guild

Right now I've got a game going on at Brilliant Gameologists. More freedom that WotC's stupid PbP area, since I can say stuff like penis and "I use Animate Dead on these cadavers."

I post at dumpshock entirely too often, post at www.dosomefink.com reaonably often, less now they are not doing Bug Hunter! which was awesome, I used to post at the combat mission forums all the time, until the best guys left :( leaving just the grogs, used to post on head-fi until I noticed that people there were actively against double blind tests, measurement tests and anything objective, so now I'm stuck with audioholics.

I keep an eye on the Goodman Games forums. They're a little "Everything's awesome!" for my taste, though.

Well to be fair, it really is quite rare that something interesting or funny crops up. It's just that sometimes, there's pure comedy gold. Especially some of their GrimDark art/stories.
