Frank raised a frighteningly good point in this thread: http://www.tgdmb.com/viewtopic.php?t=49000

So, my question to you assbandits: how come Hillary Clinton didn't push her UHC as part of a War Against Terror front? She had the best plan (IMO) out of all of the serious candidates--though the Democrats don't have the political capital short-term with the financial meltdown to get it implemented--but disregarding that, you'd think that she would've had a really powerful weapon if she would've combined her credentials on National Security (Hillary had the best cred out of all of the candidates, even McCain) with her plan.

Oh, well. Maybe she'll be able to pick up the torch when she becomes Senate Majority Leader.

She's unlikely to get Senate Majority for many years; she's a junior Senator.

...Of course, as long as people go to her to ask questions like that, we might very well push her ahead of seniority, like running for office this year for her and Obama. Go with the name recognition.

I don't know why they don't. Maybe because most doctors don't want to mix with invasion of privacy bills, or however else people get up in arms about having any sort of records that might get back to them.

I agree that Hilary's not likely to become majority leader anytime soon. But the Senate is less hierarchical than the House, so you don't have to be in the leadership to be really influential.
