Documentary: Milk (A must-see!)

So I stood in line and watched Milk last night. I expected it to tug at my heart, feel good, and crush again. Yeah, of course. What can you do about a guy who managed to spend a year and a half in office before being brutally slain by a disgraced political rival?

Anyhow, it's incredibly detailed, and a wonderful movie. Where the secondary characters in, say, W earlier this year seemed comedic and cardboard... All the characters here felt flawed, warm, honest, and real. Sets, makeup, and costumes were all spot on.

If you want to know, to feel what it's like to reach for equality, and how rough the ride is?

You really must see this movie.

And realize the scenes in it are no different than would be shown in a heterosexual movie. You may not find it attractive - some may be repulsed. But it'll let you think, nay, see what it's like to have all this around you, scenes thrust upon you that you don't find at all attractive.

Even in this movie, White, the assassin, is shown as a human character. We hear nothing about the controversy surrounding him, the troubles he has, just the few interactions he has with Milk, what we know for certain.

You must see this movie. It's awesome. In the scary, bawling sorta way.

I've been wanting to see this movie. Decent date movie (assuming I'm willing to watch it instead of keeping my tongue occupied)?

The film is actually called "The Times of Harvey Milk" if anyone is interested.

That's the title of the novel it's based loosely on, too. (Facts are same, order is different).

If it's the movie I think it is then it looks excellent, judging from the trailer.

Gonna watch this over the winter break. If I can't find it in theatres around here, I'll watch it online, somehow.

I'm glad that my not watching the bulk of the tripe that comes out of sex and violence land the rest of the year (that is, nearly all of the year) results in something decent around the time of my winter break.

I think the last movie that I watched was..... I am Legend? It wasn't bad for a remake. Heh, it's been a nearly year since I've been into a movie theatre.
