I was looking for a podcast to stick in my music-maker and was wondering what are some of the podcasts people here listen to on a regular basis, both gaming and non-gaming.
Are there any that you would recommend to other listeners? A hidden gem that deserves a larger audience? Perhaps someone puts out their own podcast and wants to pimp it. Well, now's your chance!
Personally, I always enjoy yog-sothoth.com's Yog Radio. Being English I am a little biased as its a local podcast, but I also enjoy their live play recordings of various Cthulhu campaigns.

I love the Freebeer and Hotwings Morning Show (based out of Grand Rapids, MI, but played elsewhere throughout the states). They have a podcast, but I don't subscribe. I just listen on the drive to work. I'd recommend the show if you haven't heard it.
I listen to NPR on the way home from work. I think a lot of their shows have material in podcast form, but I could be wrong.
Other than that, I know brilliantgameologists has a gaming podcast, but I don't listen to it. I've tried twice and it just doesn't hold my attention. I can't tell if it's because I'm not a podcast guy or because I don't like their (frequent) banter between topics.

The BG podcast seems to be something that if I was in their close circle of friends I would find hilarious, but doesn't have broad appeal.
But I'm biased. Meg/Marzi/WizO_Autumn still seems pissed about the WotC manure forums getting deleted, blames me for it, and actively condones people harassing me over it while simultaneously not having the guts to harass me about it herself. Needless to say, I don't like her and don't understand why anyone would.

In this moment, I am Ur-phoric. Not because of any phony god’s blessing. But because, I am enlightened by my int score.

Yeah, that's the same feel I get. It feels like a lot of inside jokes and banter, turning a 5-10 minute discussion into a 30 minute one. After about a minute of listening, I found I was fast forwarding, and when I failed to find anything but banter, I just closed the file.Count Arioch the 28th wrote:The BG podcast seems to be something that if I was in their close circle of friends I would find hilarious, but doesn't have broad appeal.

I actually rather like the BG podcast (when they were actually talking about gaming, and not bullshitting about why they haven't updated, what they'll do when they have time, their relationships, the new baby, their new dogs that I don't give a shit about because I don't like dogs and think they have shit taste in them to begin with, etc etc.). And honestly, Count, I'm surprised she blames you and not me... I always figured I was one of the bigger pains in the ass on those boards, especially that one.
Their old stuff has some good suggestions and is fun to listen to, I think.
But hey, that's just me.

Alright, here's the reader's digest version.RobbyPants wrote: Blames you? Is there some history I'm missing?
There was a rule on the mature forums back in the day: No IC roleplaying allowed. Which on the mature forums turned into cybering.
Well, people started doing it when they got rid of the BoVD/BoED forums and just had one mature forum (I don't know if there were other mods, but WizO_Autumn was at least one of them).
Anyway, I reported said threads, nothing. I sent PMs to people that started them that they could potentially get warnings for said threads. I was invited to have sexual relations with myself.
I posted a public thread on the Meta-Board about my concerns. I was in the middle of some personal drama IRL and I was considerably more high-strung in those days and the post was somewhat inflammatory (which I admit to).
Anyway, the people at WotC made the decision to close the mature forums.
Fast forward 6-7 years later, I have a little twerp named Shadowviper that flames me for causing the mature forums to close every time I make a strongly-worded post on Brilliant Gameologists. Said twerp was reported repeatedly. If anything was done, it wasn't enough so I left. The last PM I got from Shadowviper was almost a week after leaving BG.
When I told him he was pathetic that even if I had done what he claims I did he's still holding on to it for years, he tells me I'm pathetic for getting angry that I'm getting harassed. (Fun fact: Remember that scene in South Park where the kids where in Aspen and the ski bully kept calling Stan "Darsh" over and over again until he lost it? I'm like that. Things that wouldn't bother me will start to piss me off if I hear it enough.)
Anyway, Meg has a delightful habit of responding to criticism with "Well YOU do this and that and this", taking things out of context to do so. Also, another thing that I take a dim view on is people who think they are better than me. Meg thinks the fat deposits on her chest make her a goddess. (Second fun fact: With the exception of she-who-must-not-be-named, every girl I dated has been bustier than she is by a significant degree. I am not impressed by breasts anymore.)

When it comes to the BG podcast all you get is a bunch arrogant jackoff's who don't really know anything about game design spouting off either obvious or wrong advice. If you want something along those lines, but with a fraction of the pretension and a more entertaining group of people then I'd suggest The Bear Swarm! podcast; and as an added bonus Bear Swarm! is very consistent about their weekly schedule, where as TBGs most definitely is not.
I have two good friends who started a website about video games, here. They occasionally get together and shoot the shit about video games. It's pretty entertaining.
