3.5 - Items/Spells that against Fog concealment
What items or spells are useful to negate the vision impairment caused by Fog spells? Any ideas?

Blindsight (spell in Underdark AFAIR) works ... although with range limits. There are some other spells which give blindsight as well (Complete Adventurer had one which worked off ranks in listen).
PS. Pathfinder gives Horizon Walker the ability to reduces concealment by one step in fog (so at most 20% concealment) with a 1 level dip ... also a cheap pair of goggles to remove range limits on sneak attack and give +2 damage bonus on every sneak attack dice and two ways for rogues to attack even when opponents are concealed ... Paizo doesn't like melee much.

AoE spells mean you won't need to see. Even stuff like Fireball, and of course, the classic Solid Fog + Black Tentacles combo.
But, yeah. Tremorsense and blindsense.
Unless you're playing with Tome, in which case there's a couple of feats in Tome of Necromancy to give you Lifesight (Whispers of the Otherworld and Ghost Cut Technique). Demon Armor in Races of War also lets you see souls; a couple of others give Tremorsense, I think.

He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

I thought there was either a monster or prestige class that had the ability to see through fog/smoke. Koresh help me if I can recall what it was though. It may have been a Relics and Rituals thing though from the Scarred Lands setting.
[edit:memory becoming less hazy. I think it was the Penumbral lord prestige class in Relics and Rituals. Gah.]

Thanks for the hints.
I'm looking for this since I'm playing a caster in a group where most people are not interested in character optimization and play melee chars. So I decided I would simply play a support wizard...
The blindsight spell looks cool, especially the version in Magic of Faerun with hours/level. Lets hope the group and DM allow it...

I am by no means an expert, but my impression was that, while the target gets a -20 penalty to move silently while running or charging, your Listen check needs to beat their roll by 20 in order to pinpoint their position (rather than just detecting that they're in the room), so using Listen to locate targets in a fight is basically the same difficulty as using Listen to notice a guy sneaking around.shau wrote:Just listening does a pretty good job of locating an opponent, since they have to win a skill check at minus 20 disadvantage, although that still gives a miss chance.
SRD wrote:A successful check lets a character hear an invisible creature “over there somewhere.” It’s practically impossible to pinpoint the location of an invisible creature. A Listen check that beats the DC by 20 pinpoints the invisible creature’s location.

Technically, people are always moving silent even when they don't try. They are just taking the -10 or -20 penalty, and so are no silent.RobbyPants wrote:If they're trying to Move Silently during combat in the first place. I'm not sure what Listen DC you use for someone who's not actually trying to sneak.
Is this listed somewhere?

One of the modules in Paizo's "Rise of the Runelords" adventure path has a magic item that lets you see through magic fogs & smoke.
