So what are some useful everyday objects for modern games?
I found this list: http://www.fastrpg.net/resources_files% ... 0equip.pdf
..which is cool, but it seems like there could be so much more.

I am putting together a briefcase full of stuff for a lawyer (british, cthulhu-style) character, so I've been thinking up handy knick-knacks. Some of them are likely to be useful, but I don't think it's really going to make a difference so much as be personally amusing. So far I have:
- 1 Suit(nice)
- 1 Flask(rum, strong, personal ward)
- 1 Class Ring(Oxford)
- 1 Digital Audio Recorder
- 1 Lighter(cigar, butane, windproof)
- Cell Phone
- Key Ring(assorted keys)
- Briefcase, containing: - 1 Pair Gloves (leather)
- 1 Umbrella(small, folding)
- 1 Computer(tablet, mundane)
- 1 Portable Printer & Paper
- 7 Pens(blue)
- 1 Penknife
- 2 Sandwiches(Ham)
- 3 Markers(Sharpie, black)
- 3 Handkerchiefs(clean, white, spare)
- 1 Pair Opera Glasses
- 1 Ball(golf, "lucky")
- 2 Pairs Shoelaces(black)
- 1 Laser Pointer(Red)
- 1 Bottle sleeping Pills (Diphenhydramine)
- 3 Scorecards(golf)
- 20' Duct Tape
- 2 Pads Post-its
- 2 Torches(Maglite)
- 2 Pens(red)
- 10 Baggies(ziplock)
- 1 Bottle Ibuprofin
- 1 Trash Bag(black, 50 gallon)
- Golf Club(putter, collapsible)

Any other thoughts? As I go crazy, I was thinking of adding things like:
- 1 friend(invisible)
- 1 shoe(left, repels supertankers)
etc.

Some hand antiseptic gel or wipes and chewing gum. A nice thing about hand antiseptic is that since it's 60%+ alcohol you can make some very nice tinder with it and it often makes more sense for a character have it on hand than some survival gear.

How aware is your character of supernaturals? Do they believe everything they have ever heard about is real, or just aliens?

It's a Laundry game, so we skip the whole bit about "Oh no! We're playing in the setting!" bit. Also, we have already run into low end things from beyond.
That said, I have no specific information, so wouldn't be able to prepare for anything in particular.

Antiseptic is a great idea. Why chewing gum?

Quantum beat me to it.

But really, it's sticky AND some brands come wrapped in aluminum. I've always stuck with male characters before because I'm lazy and sort of like physically identifying with my characters to a degree but more than a few times I've considered playing a female because you could cause a fair amount of mischief just with the stuff my girlfriend keeps in her purse.

A nice suit has a lot of pockets. Like, a lot. You could keep a whole bunch of stuff in one, and no-one would know. look:

That's an iPad in his pocket, and it looks completely natural. Tailors know how to do that kind of thing, because one kind of jacket (hunting jackets) is made to carry multiple rabbits in the pockets, and still look good. It's pretty ridiculous.

I want one of those. I mean, not that suit, I don't have an iPad. But something with oodles of awesome pockets.
