My mental image of FrankTrollman is Dr. Frank N Furter

Post by OgreBattle »

and soon, he will be an actual Dr. Frank, right?

The general feeling of The Den is like a strange castle you discover on the roadside. It's a place that many more populous RPG discussion forums consider 'deviant' and 'vulgar'. Many of y'all have ended up here because of warnings and bans just because you were being yourself in a place that didn't tolerate.

I ended up here googling for Soulknife class fixes and somehow googled for a Jester and...that was that.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. He unerringly knows where his goal lies, he breathes underwater and is untroubled by space travel, seems to have no limits to his actual endurance and favors killing his enemies by driving both boots square into their skull. His agility is unmatched, and his strength legendary, able to fling about a turtle shell big enough to contain a man with enough force to barrel down a near endless path of unfortunates.

Zak S, Zak Smith, Dndwithpornstars, Zak Sabbath. He is a terrible person and a hack at writing and art. His cultural contributions are less than Justin Bieber's, and he's a shitmuffin. Go go gadget Googlebomb!

I ended up here through being someone who trawled Nifty but never posted.

I don't even remember how I ended up on Nifty.

I found the Tomes on the Wizards of the Coast message boards and somehow found The Den when looking for them again. That was shortly before the 2008 board crash / hosting issue, but I didn't actually create an account until much more recently.

I was exposed to the Tomes and The Wish and The Word and some of the Frank & K threads from the WOTC boards well after the fact, and I liked the writing style and content enough to google around and see what else they'd done. I learned, through threads on dumpshock, paizo, RPGNet, and probably a few more, that no matter how obvious and correct and obviously correct you are, someone on the internet will try to tell you you are wrong, and they will do so like passive aggressive twats, concealing their insults only enough that they can claim whatever the socially required level of deniability is while still obviously insulting you. Whether or not you're allowed to respond in kind without getting banned depends entirely on whether or not you're willing to pretend you're not being an asshole while obviously being an asshole (like they are) and whether or not you've spent enough time sucking community cock for the mods to play along with your make believe.

TGD has the best mods.

A marketer generally perceives Soon as a finite, known, yet unspeakable time-interval; to a fan, the interval appears greater, and may in fact approach the infinite, becoming Never. Once the interval has passed, however, a certain time-lensing effect seems to occur, and the time-interval becomes vanishingly small. We therefore see the strange result that the same fragment of spacetime may be observed, in quick succession, as Soon, Never, and All Too Quickly.

I Googled for D&D rules in the summer of '08, and somehow found Tome instead, and finally drifted to the source forum of Tome.

Pretty sure I stumbled on this place from the GITP forums.

And I picture Frank like Dr. Hook from Riget- living in a weird basement full of RPG books and contraband.

If I recall right, Frank put a picture of himself on the Gaming Den Face Thread.

He's the guy wearing orange.
He jumps like a damned dragoon, and charges into battle fighting rather insane monsters with little more than his bare hands and rather nasty spell effects conjured up solely through knowledge and the local plantlife. Based on prior photos, prior comments from his sister, that Deadlands card, and the After Sundown cover my mental image of Frank is a Snorlax dressed all in saftey orange and brandishing a revolver while making a ghoul face.
"But transportation issues are social-justice issues. The toll of bad transit policies and worse infrastructure—trains and buses that don’t run well and badly serve low-income neighborhoods, vehicular traffic that pollutes the environment and endangers the lives of cyclists and pedestrians—is borne disproportionately by black and brown communities."

The easiest thing is to just google his name. The image search gives you quite a few of his images. Have I mentioned that google is god damned creepy.

Oh man, why did you do that? If I wanted to see ugly RPG players I could always use a mirror.

In other news, Orion kind of looks like the other DM from our group.

I think we should update that thread with new pictures to see what has become of everyone in those 4 years.

Only in like 3 of them of what, 10 posters, one of which is now banned. That's a pretty good ratio actually. The signal to butthurt ratio on that thread was fairly decent compared to most places I reckon.

I've got some gray hairs now. I've lost a little weight. I'll see about managing one, unless I can find a decent facebook picture.

Sometimes when I have extra time I sit and read threads about Frank/Tomes/TGD. There's one on therpgsite that says we consist mostly of people going "Rainman" over the rules, that we only think from 0 or infinity, that we've had math-related brain damage, and that we don't understand friendship. I just love the internet.

I thought it was pretty funny how completely uniformed they were.

Frank has been banned from all the forums, like TGD...

I was told about the Den by someone I met at OpenRPG's lobbies. The first post I was pointed at was Frank's AoaBS for nWoD, I've kept an eye on it ever since.

I can't say I care much about about faces.
