How does it compare to the first season? Is it worth watching?

Very badly, and no.

If you watched the first season of TD, the very first scene of the first episode establishes the core mystery and the dynamic between Marty and Rust. It draws you in right away and pretty much just ramps up and up from there.

The second season is by comparison disjointed and bloated. There are four main characters this time around, at least two of which are completely superfluous. The first episode spends it's entire runtime hopping from character to unconnected character, and the core mystery isn't established until the very last scene.

One of the things that made the first season great was that it was essentially a psychological horror story hiding behind the facade of a cop show. TD season two just feels like a pretentious procedural.

That said, the opening theme by Leonard Cohen is good.

How disappointing. I guess it's unrealistic to hope for lightning to strike twice.
