Is Ted Cruz the Zodiac Killer?

It's been widely reported that more than a third of respondents say "maybe".

A third of respondents know nothing about either, then, because Cruz was born in 1970, two years after the beginning of the Zodiac Killer's activity. The basis is some conspiracy nuts making noise in 2013 after Ted Cruz delivered a speech titled "This is the Zodiac speaking," Satan knows why.

Because Ted Cruz is a Birther and they are mocking him.

The whole thing is a joke. A very aptly targeted joke.

That makes it unlikely, but not impossible. There are any number of methods by which Cruz could have killed people before he was born, including time travel and reincarnation.

Yeah, it's probably impossible, but if it is then why hasn't he openly denied it?

Exactly. There's something fishy here.

I don't particularly find it amusing, since I saw a point made about it by someone I follow on Facebook before I really knew anything about the joke itself-
Randall Keith Milholland wrote:Isn't that "Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer" meme so clever and original? Isn't it? You know who I bet sure loves it?
Families of the victims of the Zodiac Killer. Yup.
"Isn't that great? People are using the man who killed someone we loved dearly to troll a politician they don't like! So clever!"
Yup, I'm sure they adore the idea of the faceless man who eluded capture and never answered for needlessly ending the lives of people they loved being turned into a silly little meme to mock someone.
I mean, sure, some of the ones who spent these past decades thinking about someone they lost - a sibling or maybe even a child - and wondering "why" may not appreciate it but they just need to toughen up. We've got the high road cuz we're mocking Ted Cruz so what if there's possible emotional collateral damage?
RIGHT?
But seriously I hate people a lot right now.
And, no, selling shirts of this shit for a "good cause" doesn't make it better. Being shitty for good reasons is still being shitty.

Sounds like concern trolling on Facebook. Nothing to see here citizens. Move along.

Yeah, and I bet those Jews are super upset about Hitler analogies... Or you know, people who have loved ones killed usually have a better perspective on what's important 46 years later than concern trolls on the internet.

I completely agree with the literal meaning of those words. I know what he means them sarcastically. But still, completely agree.

I'm genuinely torn here. On the one hand, I don't have the energy to muster up a vitriolic rant. On the other hand, that's really fucking dumb.

Is this what it feels like to need viagra to perform? The stupid is clearly there giving me the bedroom eyes, and yet not even a tingle.

I get Kaelik's take, but I still think that Randy has a point. I don't know, I've got other shit I'm overreacting to tonight.

He does have a point. And if you were specifically making the joke to someone whom you know lost family to the Zodiac, it would be tasteless.

But, it's been 42 years. It's officially not too soon.

I do feel it's worth pointing out that nobody has ever seen both Ted Cruz and the Zodiac Killer in the same place at the same time.

I'm more puzzled as to why he appears to be wearing a (poorly-fitting) David Cameron mask at all times. Is he trying, in his efforts to definitely not be from a foreign land, to appear to be a raging torie from... a different foreign land?

It's either that or someone tried to make David Cameron into a muppet. Some of the facial expressions really shout "muppet" to me. Then again, I think Mitch McConnell looks like a turtle shitting, so I might not be the best judge.

I don't see why the feelings of murder victims' families should stop us from enjoying some harmless fun.

Y'know what else Cruz has never denied? Being Jeffrey Dahmer's silent partner.

I mean, at least that's technically possible...

All of us at one time or another have said things that would offend the family members of people who suffered horrible fates. Many of us do it on a daily basis. I'm not sure why I should care any more about Ted Cruz being facetiously accused of being the Zodiac Killer than I do about the other equally horrible things said here...

Nearly everything you can think to say would be potentially traumatic to some subset of people, particularly if we're assuming that decades of time aren't going to heal any wounds.

How do you know he was born in 1970? Has he released his birth certificate????

There you go, lesson learned, concern trolls never actually care about anyone's feelings, they are just using concern trolling as substitute for an actual argument to pursue their agenda.

Yeah, and the literal first page of the comic has Randy's self-insert character sending a coathanger to an ex as a babyshower gift, and is also fifteen years old. Fuck, there's another comic that's like ten years old where an annoying gamer's elf cleric character is raped by redneck trees.

What's your fucking point, Eikre? That Randy was a terrible person? Given that he's not running for office, I'm pretty sure he's allowed to grow, so the comic panels you highlight aren't exactly a counterpoint to his "look, real people who were friends and family of a rather terrifying serial killer in recent history are still alive, and maybe wouldn't think this 'likely republican nominee is literally a serial killer' thing is funny."

Now, I can see the point raised a couple days back that maybe that's a bit excessively precious and sensitive. But given that Randy isn't running for POTUS, and his comics about suicide/"you're dumb, kill yourself," anal rape, and being devoured by catgirls aren't fucking national headlines, but rather things you have to go and find in his fairly small-time webcomic... wtf?

But moreover... I fucking agreed that maybe I was being overly concerned and the whole thing is dumb, so why the fuck are people still showing up to say "Prak you're dumb?"
