Since this game will probably be happening once every three weeks because of alternating timelines, I want to record events so that we have a reference on return.

Session one today:

A halfling corpse was found by the guards and taken to the undertaker, a rainbow servant/necromancer who immediately discovered that they halfling had been exsanguinated, probably from two puncture wounds in the neck. He messaged his fumigant (smoke abilities) investigator/bookshop owner friend from across town to come investigate. On his arrival, he found some dust in a pocket, and then they went next door to ask the Human Male drow worshipping Priest. He cast a divination spell and asked Lolth:

"Which sapient creature will whoever or whatever killed this woman attack next in this town?" and got the answer "Caelebmir Orleplith" a person none of them had ever heard of. For some reason I don't recall they figured out that this person worked at a carpentry shop in town and then asked around the artisan district until they found it. On interrogation they discovered the deceased was a friend of the other carpenter at the shop, who was missing today, along with a shop assistant.

Caelebmir Orleplith responded to these weirdos asking weird question by immediately walking across the street to the guardhouse and reporting both the missing carpenter and shop assistant and also these weirdos.

The single cop sitting there told her that taking reports was too important to investigate, so he would continue to sit there, but she could fill out a form, and the party decided to move on. The oracle asked "What is the most effective action I could take to address this problem?" and was told "Get help from Ksara Lodgehilt." Because Lolth was very tired of one of the Players being left out, so the party left to go get the Apothecary that the Undertaker and Book Seller both know.

On the way there, they were followed and stalked by someone in a hood. They initially chased that person into a slums, but decided to come back with Ksara.

This turned out to be fortituous because when they returned the slums were filled with vampire spawns that jumped down from the rooves to attack them.

The necromancer spent a lot of spell slots on Mass Cure Light Wounds. The Fumigant made it very hard for vampires to see. The Priest protected everyone from Dominate Person effects with Magic Circle. The Apothecary fired a special relic arrow to do 95% of all the damage to the Vampires, killing them. Guess Lolth knew they would have had a hard time killing vampire spawn without Ksara.

During the fight, the vampire spawn kept shouting out the tactics of the party, and at the end the Fumigant detected with their 170ft Cloudsense ability noticed the appearance of two clouds from nothing. This ended the first session, and they can theoretically either try to chase those down or ask divinations or investigate corpses next time.

Session 2 came early because of scheduling of other games.

The players ended up failing to speak with the dead vampire spawn, tracked them back to their homes, figured out things were weird, then went back and picked up the corpses on the theory that they were possessions of the creator for the purpose of scrying.

They watched the vampire running away into the woods with a vampire spawn, and then he stopped at a clearing to try to dispel the scrying sensor. The PCs chased down to that clearing and then brutally murdered the Vampire with a rain of arrows. He was a Vampire Wizard so they got a spellbook, and then also cut out a message in a bottle in his leg. That message directed them to a nearby graveyard and promised compensation for returning the corpse. They got there, heard a lot of moaning from a bunch of open graves, and decided to go home until the morning.

The next morning with new spell slots they went past all the zombies who just didn't move in graveyards and knocked on the door to be greated by a giant talking skeleton with horns. It told them to wait till their number was called, and when they didn't have a number, it got confused and called over its master.

The master is a spooooooky necromancer who explained that he sent the vampire to scout the city for "our" upcoming invasion. The plurality of that our still to be determined. He also explained that he didn't actually write that note in the vampires leg, that was a trick his vampire minion must have played on him to get revenge from the beyond. He explained that he's super chill and not worried about dying at all, but that he's a little miffed his vampire was killing people and making spawn instead of just stealing census records or surveys for the upcoming invasion.

He gave the pary 6k in onyx gems as compensation to basically get them to go away, and the party is now deciding how they want to address this problem.

Session 3 the party after much consideration eventually decided to not attack the Necromancer scout leader and instead report him to the people in charge of the city.

They were invited into the presence of the dragonborn king by his gnome butler and discussed their findings. The king informed them that actually two different armies are invading, one of undead and one of giants, and they want the party to go scout for some missing brigades of soldiers in the mountains nearby, with a brief stop at a random wizard tower where the wizard will do favors for the king, and can maybe point them in the right direction.
