SRD work-in-progress area. Doesn't have everything yet, but you can see some of the material. Bard 'Masterpieces' are amusing. Edit: Had to share. Up late dealing with some facepalm-worthy message board posts. Time for bed. Link? Would like to see those facepalm-worthy messages myself, because ther...

Wait a minute... and they didn't launch a new board and community portal for that? I need to make a will save.

Well, speaking of Elminster builds, can anyone provide a proper one? I have seen a lot of enjoyable rants about the shitty writeups in 3E Faerun supplements, and this "Lets kill Elminster" thread from RPG.net 2 years ago was funny, but I never saw someone trying to put some numbers behind ...

Wasn't Trailblazer made by a bunch of people on a forum? What was the story behind that? AFAIK its made by two guys from ENWorld, under the label Badaxe Games. They have a history of supplements, but its kinda hard to find out anything about it because it was small-scale and is long OOP. They are d...

I second Sunless Citadel, this is a fun and forward adventure. You need to tweak and improve almost everything in there to make it actually challenging, but thats easy and hardly unique to this module. Necromancers want to get their hands on this cool flute (Azan-Gund I think was the name?). A reall...

I find their lack of imagination... disturbing. Maybe they just want to succeed where WotC failed... if they avoid splitting their own fanbase by making this box game incompatible with standard PF, I expect it to sell really good. People's reactions to the announcement of the 4E Essentials box wher...

it's cool for you to admit you have no arguments to refute mine, thanks for being mature about it Fuchs and Jilocasin Your argument is that DMs should be allowed to cheat. The only argument to that is to call you on your munchkinism. well the DM is certainly allowed to cheat, there isn't even a sho...

Yes, we all agree that 3e is overly complex and that monster creation is tedious. That doesn't make 4e's monster system good . It makes it a bad alternative. 3e allowed for a lot of variety and strange monsters, but putting them together was a hassle. 4e makes using monsters easier, but the entire ...

I think they expect you to actually read that novel, so as a player you have some knowledge about the world and your character can act according to that knowledge, which he is very likely not supposed to have in the first place. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but sounds like a viable marketign s...

Thanks for all the insight on SWSE guys, I never looked into it and only knew it from statements like "If I were to change D&D 3rd edition, I would take xxx from SWSE because that was awesome." (xxx would be the skill system or the force mechanic as magic replacement)

I am still totally amazed how he comes to his conclusions... I agree that playtesting isn't everything in the process but this is just insane. Especially him saying "3E is an easy game." I think he means that the system is not hard to get, but making decent stuff for a system where changin...

Check this out: http://lumpley.com/comment.php?entry=565 But if your game is simpler, like say 3rd edition D&D (and most of my audience of game designers is producing games which are way simpler than 3rd edition D&D), you should have determined and fixed all rules holes well before they reac...

Well, there are other places where the files are still available. Go to 4shared.com and search for "dnd3.5index" and you'll find all the lists.

Kaelik's last one is especially important, because as long as you are having fun playing it... you know the drill.

Regarding the beguiler, I always sort of disregarded it because there was plenty of other stuff I wanted to consume, but this talking made me change my mind :)

Well, Pathfinder's art is nice and the books do look really cool, but to be honest I find the pictures from W. Reynolds to not match the gaming style of 3E. There is a topic on Pathfinder where the OP is upset that a Barbarian is doing 25 damage/attack at level 8. Let that sink in. Yes, the number after 7 and before 9. Apparently, he has yet to tell the new player that they have an unspoken rule of playing with nerf bats. And he thinks 120 damage at le...
