This still doesn't fix old tables. Which might be impossible or way to much work, but would be nice if it's practical to do.

All rpg advancement can feel like a Red Queen's Race, level based systems especially so. But the Pathfinder 2 playtest did so to an extent that no other game compares.

Not only is it possible, a substantial number of published games are.

Essentials was Mearls baby and marks a sharp drop in the quality of 4e books.
