The Romani inhabiting the World of Darkness bear a resemblance to the Gypsies of our world, but they are a distinct breed. Much of the persecution inflicted upon them is the same that is inflicted upon the Gypsies of our world. Similarly, the Romany words and general philosophy on life, found withi...

There's a passage in WoD: Gypsies where a gypsy child uses their magical powers to steal one of the nails the legionnaires are going to use to crucify Jesus, and Jesus looks down at the kid and tells him his entire people officially have his permission to ignore that whole "Thou shalt not steal...

World of Darkness: Gypsies came out in '97, sort of a dry-run for the Year of the Ally splats. Basically, all gypsies are presented as part of an ancient coalition of families tied into the core games (Werewolf, Mage, Changeling, Vampire), and just by being gypsy you get magical powers based on you...

Piracy hurts different industries in different ways, and even the players within the different industries more. When you're a very small company, supporting yourself on sales can be difficult. Independent creators are unlikely to sell enough to live on. To them, every potential sale lost to piracy c...

[GURPS]Engines & Reagents

Engines and Reagents This began as basic proposal for the magic system for the fantasy steampunk game set in Renaissance Italy. I worked up the proposal on very short notice (about 48 hours), and the people thanked me for it but decided to pass. So I decided to do a quick conversion from their home...

She started out as a minor background character in the RPG books; she was later depicted in The Dragonheart Trilogy , a trio of novels that tied in with the sourcebook Portfolio of a Dragon . Her role after that was mostly in the background until she finally and mysteriously vanished in System Failu...

It's become something of a running gag, but it started in Jak Koke's Shadowrun novel Clockwork Asylum:
Nadja stepped back, and let her sheet fall to the floor. Her full breasts swayed, her brown nipples standing rigid in the breeze.

What we basically need is a new version of Dungeon Keeper where the PCs get to play the heroes World of Warcraft style and the DM builds the dungeon for them to invade and tries to manage the encounters.

There's precedent. Before there was a freelancer forum, there was a hidden freelancer subforum on Dumpshock where freelancers could talk about stuff on their lonesome. Then it was determined that wasn't cool, so they started up the official freelancer forums...at which point we started up our own se...

So, this is a slide show wherein the author throws a bunch of largely unrelated information at us and then wedges in an "RPGs suck!" comment at the end? He does wander around a bit, but his argument is less "RPGs suck!" than "RPGs have been doing the same fucking thing for ...

A Thing Of Beauty...

A Thing of Beauty is a Stout Green Toy is a fun little slide presentation relevant to gaming. The central thesis has merit: to stay relevant, RPGs need to reinvent themselves with a new model of play beyond the Mr. Cavern model. I'm not entirely sure what that would look like. Perhaps a sort of coo...

Well, I'd think a brief review of your activity in this thread would be sufficient, but seeing as this is the third time you've brought it up:

Kaelik is not a CGL fanbitch.

(1) CGL has retained both licenses, Yes, IMR is currently under a temporary extension of both licenses, but only through the grace of Topps and with Topps taking a more direct hand in financial matters. To the best of my knowledge, they still haven't paid Topps what they owe them either. Its kind o...

I find it rather annoying that you continue to ignore when you have been demonstrably wrong. I'd like to reiterate that from what I've heard, IMR is paying the creditors. I don't know how much or the details of how it's going to be paid out, but it is a payday. This is not a case of IMR offering not to charge lawyer's fees or any inane bullshit along those lines.

SR5 for 2011 ("The Awakening Edition") was already a rumor when I left, I wouldn't be surprised if it was seriously pushed - I just sort of doubt Jason Hardy will be able to put a serious effort at a new edition together by next year. 2012, maybe.

From my understanding Battletech, despite producing more products in a year than Shadowrun, draws in less money than SR. Make of that what you will, but to me it says SR is more popular than BT. As far as the case goes, we know that IMR has tried to settle the case before, and the three had continue...
