One thing that tons of fiction with powerful non-human races uses for humans is to make humans the "never say die, always get back up again, too damn stubborn" race that always surprises whatever other race with their refusal to just plain die or give up already. You could use that. http:/...

Re: Josh Rebuts the State of the Union

There's a reason why many doctors, nurses and health care experts who know our system best consider this approach a vast improvement over the status quo. But if anyone from either party has a better approach that will bring down premiums, bring down the deficit, cover the uninsured, strengthen Medi...

When I tried Maptool it was arguably as bad as OpenRPG. Who the fuck designs the user interface for these things? Piece of crap. Some of the worst user interface design known to man. The map usage is completely obtuse. The character sheet and scripting features are completely obtuse. Incredible bloat. I don't have a single nice thing to say about that program. Of course, I only used it a long time ago too but ...

Really, when you insert things like "should" and similarly opinionated things you are not naming a new logical fallacy. In fact all you're doing is devaluing the term.

There are basically two aspects to the flavor of any given ability: Its inherent flavor, which is actually mechanically integrated, and all the other fluff, which you can totally change all you like without really impacting the mechanics. Inherent flavor is stuff that derives directly from the game ...

I like the book because it is the only book I have read that conveys an atmosphere of intrigue, of plans within plans. As a bonus the world is consistent within itself - that is rare by itself. Try reading the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series by George R. R. Martin. First one is "A Ga...

Every other stat is not an automatic dump stat. What does Charisma need to pull it out of that realm? What I did was make it add to (or subtract from) Action Points in my games. Re: Animu: The imbalanced encounter.

Unlike some folks, I am not an animu connoisseur. My palate is unrefined, so to speak, and I do not frequently watch animu, so my experience is limited. However, I have noticed a trend in animu for the "boss" battles to be extremely imbalanced. It seems that many of them--not all of them,...

One of the points is that it's a series of optional addons that may or may not be used together. Each book is truly a book and intended to be stand alone. If I was going to pull a pathfinder and actually write a whole stand-alone ruleset for 3.x D&D I would do so with that explicit goal and wit...
