Re: Is Chamomile a self-publisher?
Ok, got most of what you wrote Chamomile, some further clarifications: Usually I recommend to groups that they play my stock Pathfinder campaign Sihedron, which is Frankensteined together from a dozen-ish different Pathfinder APs in such a way to make them more open and sandbox. A dozenish? I have t...

Re: Is Chamomile a self-publisher?
Thanks for answering! I use aspect classes for NPCs and recommend new players use them for themselves. The preconception that core is more accessible than anything third-party is evidently so extremely strong that it overrides even me directly telling people that these classes were specifically desi...

Re: Is Chamomile a self-publisher?
Likewise, the vast majority of people want me to run an AP, and while I do clean up APs a bit, I mostly run them as they're printed, both because people pick them for a reason and while the AP writer may or may not deliver on that reason, I don't really know what that reason is (and players are rar...

from the monk's text: These bonuses to AC apply even against touch attacks or when the monk is flat-footed. She loses these bonuses when she is immobilized or helpless, when she wears any armor, when she carries a shield, or when she carries a medium or heavy load. So yes it is supposed to stack wi...

Ok certain things I am seeing, because I propably haven't delved into and liked the Tomes enough. Or my style of play is much lower power than the board's. -Heal at will from first level for the Crusader is bold, but I guess it cuts the bullshit needed to deal with the game. -The AC on the monk on l...

Hmm pushing someone towards the rage route means pushing them towards the strength based melee route and I think there is an easy way to make being dex focused worth it, while barely increasing the wordcount. First just by the virtue of having sneak attack you push them towards dex, so maybe it shou...

This is interesting, I have my own rules for an only core 3.5 game, so I can appreciate this. Hopefully you will have fun with this. Some thoughts: - If we are using core feats, aren't your own feats no brainers? Everyone would want an animal companion and the Knave will be pushed toward the rage ro...

You can never really lose your character in MMO's, so maybe that explains the level of focus on max level gameplay. In older dnd if your fighter could reliably kill hydras and giants single handedly he had already reached the point people conceived back then as the absolute maximum. All that said no...

I have been of the opinion that feats should not have been included in 3rd edition at all for quite some time. I can see including them as a reward for class levels gained, but there is no excuse for racial hd to have them. On monsters they increase complexity and make monsters harder to use without...

Adding more feats is the solution advocated by the people who came up with the concept of Scaling Feats in the first place a decade ago. As an aside Monte Cook did exactly this back in arcana unearthed days, too bad he couldn't get rid of his unrelenting boner for spellcasters for it to actually ma...

The game lasted four or so real-life months, and I think everyone leveled up two or three times (ending at level 7 or 8). Everyone was more or less capable of contributing equally, with the exception of the Assassin. This was my fault. When I helped people make their characters, I didn't fully appr...

I'm currently running a Tome game with Pathfinder classes considered upon request. I'm using scaling feats because I never had a chance to try them out earlier. 3.5 skill list with Pathfinder +3 class skill bonus instead of extra skill points. Mostly Red_Rob's scaling items, but wealth by level wil...

Is the Soulborn stronger than Tome Soldier? I'm not sure but IME it seems like Soulborns can do more stuff. Either way, I think I'd recommend removing all instances of 'add a different ability mod to a thing' or 'add an ability mod to a thing twice' and replace with 'optionally substitute the abili...

Some things I don't allow that come to mind are Tome Fighter, Tome Soulborn (at least without some nerfs), Combat School and Product of Celestial Dalliance. 3.5 and/or PF stuff is allowed on request as is any 3rd party or homebrew. Is the Soulborn stronger than Tome Soldier? I use Red_Rob's items a...

I use the majority of Tome stuff - the small skill changes, the classes, the race modifications, some of the core setting assumptions/options, the scaling bonuses of magic items, sometimes one version or another of the scaling Tome Armour. And I've often used the big scaling Tome feats, but if I ra...

How do YOU run Tome?
I am curious how people here run tome games.
What classes do you use? Do you allow 3.5 or pathfinder stuff on a case by case basis?
Do you use Tome feats?
Personally the thing that I like most about Tome are the scaling items with red robs errata added to them.

So, um, new feats. Juggernaut, among other things, allows you to base all class features for one track off of Strength. For example, Spellcasting. Looks like the Rage Mage just got better, if you're willing to give up MNiW. Also any pretense of balance is gone. Seems they agree with you http://www....
