The way I would deal with SotA and tech creep in a shadowrun setting. Using the SR4 device ratings: You make a state of the art extended test: device rating, threshhold(6), interval 1 or 2 months, depending how fast you want stuff to degrade. So a Commlink with a DR of 8, would roll 8 dice, average ...

Well, if you combine it with your Jglasses, it'll do a super imposed 3d Augmented Reality. It'll let you buy items by using the Safeway(tm) App, so yuo just hold the bar code to the camera and it scans the item and automatically deducts. It's the first step to hassle free shopping. No more cashier l...

Frank, you're keeping the French "Lords of War" culture for ESPRIT? The we sell quality, affordable weapons to any(one)/(government)/(2bitdictator) with cash money? On the Corporate thing? That's very spot on. The one thing I might add. * Address people formally. Unless you are speaking di...

but a spirit cannot stick it's head into a server and go.. "look shinny" and tell you what the paydata is.

You cannot cast a spell on a nexus, and get any meaningful data. Though you could cast a spell on a nexus to overload it's circuitry and fry it.

We're still trying to figure out what we're saying about the French Foreign Legion, and France, and ESPRIT in general. But we're going back to the 'Good old days' in feel. Napoleonic era Nobility, turn of the century FFL. The FFL is a bully squad that gets used by the French Nobility to meddle in pl...

DId you play 2nd Edition with the Optional Power point rules, and all the other optional rules? It was a gigantic clusterfuck of rules that a rules lawyer could have a field day with.

I don't know, I think that if you're going for a 100 levels.. you should stop, and go for none.

Switch to a skill system, and not a level system.

People like high end stuff. People like to feel like they're saving the kingdom, and defeating the big bad. It's why D&D is still the big giant kid on the block. You do need fluff with crunch.. it's true. And one of the things I liked about the AZT/AMZ war aspect, was going to be the clash of St...

I'm in a PbP game where another player used an antimaterial sniper round on my drone. 4 body 18 armor, vs 9P -6AP. Either, he bounced off my armor and did no damage, or he destroyed the drone in 1 shot. There was basically no alternative.

what if I'm running a good game? and not some shitty pile of manure. with random encounters. I've crafted the encounters, I'm actually telling a story. And this crappy mechanic is going to throw randomly generated crap into my game? That's just bull. D&D is a roleplaying game, not a collectible ...

What makes Aztechnology evil.. is that they're the Russians. You have to remember, this is a cold-war era roleplaying game. Someone needed to be the big bad russians, and Aztlan/Aztechnology got the puck. Also, I don't think Horizon needs to get nuked from orbit. I like Horizon... it just needs to h...

the idea is not fine enough! It's a fucking roleplaying game, not a collectible card game. Torg had cards as part of the experience, and that was fine. The cards came with the ruleset, and where amusing. Besides, Torg was a beer and pretzels game. This this.. HULK SMASH! Is really the only appropria...

I'm a big giant Earthdawn Fan. I love Earthdawn, I love Shadowrun and I love the cross overs. That being said, most of the Immortal Elves stuff pissed me off. ANd I agree with Hermit, we need more politics and more war, and more crime. But shadowrun magic has become so powerful, much more powerful t...

I haven't played 2nd edition since the mid 90's. So it has been a while. Christmas Trees? That doesn't even make sense. What does that even mean. I mean literally, even including targets of opportunity, you're talking a handful of dicerolls per round. (Depending on number of attacks) I'm not sure ho...

Why would you get rid of spells, and spell choice, and instead make them powers of the class. That's just.. icky

How is 3rd edition combat slow. I roll my d20, I add my bonuses, subtract my minuses. GM compares to AC, tell me yay or nay, I roll damage. How freaking hard is that? Ooh, maybe to spice things up I use a feat. Most feats are pretty well spelled out on what they do. Your character has maybe 5 or 6 c...

There should be a sort of "pre-meeting" initial attitude. Merchant X, a secret member of the order of "We Hate Demi-Humans." is 'Unfriendly verging on Hostile' towards demi-humans. So if the party is all demi-humans, they don't start at neutral. Now of course, they show up, and t...

Why don't you like Reaction as an attibute? Agility, Intuition and Edge are all 3 really GOOD stats to begin with.

Agility is already the 1 stat to rule them all.
A Gun bunny wants agility, some body, and reaction. If you take away his need for reaction, That's even more of a 1 stat pony.
