Re: Races of War

Another random question: does the sunder action still exist in Races of War? I mean, I can guess what the Edge option does (no attack of opportunity), but it's odd that this wasn't addressed in the Advanced Combat section, given that there are abilities that help and defend against sunder.

Re: Need some ideas for creating a Barb build

I actually wrote up some trolls using RoW rules here http://bb.bbboy.net/thegamingden-viewthread?forum=1&thread=726&postnum=17. While the RoW conversion wasn't intended to handle puzzle monsters like trolls, I think the results were not too bad.[br][br]That said, arguing with Argaud is a los...

Re: Races of War

Does Insightful Strike stack with keen edge and similar effects? The feat doesn't have the language that prevents stacking, but the spell does.

Re: Need some advice: Playing a 'Core' character in the WLD

In the WLD, you'd probably be better off killing anyone without darkvision who attempts to join your group than letting them join, in terms of general safety, unless they agree never to use a light source.

Re: Fire Mage

I don't think anyone actually wants to play a game past level 15 with the rules as they exist now. I mean, seriously, D&D at those levels has more resemblance to a game of unrestricted M:tG where both players get to stack their decks than anything else. Your goal is to win initiative, action-nov...

Re: Need some advice: Playing a 'Core' character in the WLD

From my understanding of the WLD, there are only two valid races: deep dwarves and deep halflings. Deep dwarves get 90' darkvision (longer than most humanoids') and even higher boni than usual for dwarves for a disadvantage that barely matters in the dungeon. Deep halflings have darkvision, stonecun...

What book is call of stone from? Also, is there any chance you might be willing to list some of the good buffs (as opposed to attack and utility spells) available for sorcerers and wizards?

Copy editor's note: the table for Dominions of the Infernal, a feat which appears on page 150, is on page 151, and the formatting for its caption is bad.

The PGtF update only adds stuff to the original entry, and updates the warrior to match it. The fey'ri has actually been published in at least two different sources, Monsters of Faerun and Races of Faerun, and there are subtle differences between the two; the PGtF update applies to the Monsters of F...

Re: A rage-mage that sucks less: Berzerker-Magus

My Overview: This class is better than the rage mage published in CW. Unfortunately, that's pretty much like saying the core fighter is better than a commoner: true, but not very interesting. For most of your career, you can choose to be a bad barbarian, or a bad wizard. You get the ability to use ...

Re: Please take a look at this class

Well, I made some more changes.[br][br]I restored full casting, because Celes, in FF6, is more or less a full spellcaster. I also nerfed runic to require a standard action: hopefully, being able to seriously hamper spellcasting in the nearby area is enough so that it's worth doing in place of castin...

This depends, honestly, on what else is available. My rune knight is better than core wizard, obviously. I'm pretty sure it's worse than incantatrix. Re: Easy, Simple Classes (need cleric architype)

The difficulty with this request is that it's really hard to make a simple healer/buffer class that couldn't be played by a simple piece of computer code. If the buffs are something a new player can understand, they'll be things like +damage, +attack, +AC, and +saves. However, using these is really ...

Well, the obvious one is Red Wizard of Thay, though how that works with a gnomish incantatrix is not something I want to think about. The only other way I can think of to drop schools are the racial subs in Races of Eberron, but they also have obvious problems given the rest of what you're doing.[br...

Re: Does Anyone Take the Diplomacy Rules Seriously?

GitP's Diplomacy succeeds at some of his specific goals, but still has the fundamental problem with Diplomacy: it's way too easy for a character to use Diplomacy to win the game . Once you have a Diplomacy check about +25 higher than your level, you expect to be able to make your level-appropriate w...

Re: Schools of Magic (for specialist Wizards)

Abjuration : This school is useful early, but the reason to take is its high-level spells. Basically, for 1st through 3rd levels, you have the protection from and magic circle spells, resist energy , and dispel magic . The problem is that divine casters get these too, and they're useful but not enc...
