Re: Craft Effigy Abuse
I thought the idea of craft effigy abuse came from the fact that it only charges you based on HD and that there are templates that increase CR but not HD. So you can layer on all the half golem templates onto your hydra effigy and it just costs you the same as a hydra.

The problem with having a really involved social system, or any sort of skill system, is that there is generally speaking just one guy doing it. If it is just one roll, it is not such a big deal. If it is eighteen roles then everyone but the party face wanders off to play with the wii. One of the bi...

What would happen with guerrilla combat in such a system. Could you burn through a few turns of combat maneuvers and then run before the spirit bomb gets fired or no?

[br] I haven't read the comic, just seen individual panels here and there. Disappointing. The novels were actually decent. And by that I mean "The first two were decent, the next one seemed a bit random and also deviated from what the Doom games were about, and I haven't read the last one but h...

I seem to get the gaming den when I search for it these days. I used to have to come here via a link in an article that off handedly mentioned the gaming den in a discussion of one of Trollman's tomes.

Is game workshop's advice worth anything? Or is it like WOTC, where they tell you that the only problem with combining weapon focus, dual wielding, EWP kukri, and whirlwind attack is that you might just be too damn awesome for the table.

Re: Rules Compendium: Previews are up!
I am philosophically opposed to this. It seems like WOTC seriously wants me to pay for a hardbound copy of their errata. If I buy it, WOTC is going to get paid because they have a large enough errata and FAQ that it can fill a hardcover book.

The enjoyable thing about Rifts is that some of the ideas are really good. Consider the crazies. Re: Can Rifts not svck?
The thing to remember is that Rifts does not accidentally have imbalanced classes (like DnD). The system completely rejects the very idea of class balance. Possible first level characters include a scholor, a hobo, a drugged up killing machine, and a guy with THE MOST POWERFUL PIECE OF MILITARY EQUI...

Reading this makes me regret my games of shadowrun. My group always precedes very carefully. No heavy weapons, no high risk assignments, no messing with any mage whose power level is over nine thousand. There was that one game where I carried out an assassination by exploding a sky scraper, but that...
