Poverty (Stop posting here Shadzar)

So, reading through the "pathfinder is still bad" thread I decided I'd like to make some character classes based on a couple of the "Vow of" feats. Most of them don't have any business being the basis for a class, but the Vow of Poverty, and the Vow of Peace/Nonviolence have pote...

Oh, okay, well that certainly makes sense. The only question now is whether or not I want to hit things really hard badly enough to use it... Yes, yes I do. Thanks for all the feedback.

I actually meant more in the average player's reaction, but thank you for that too.

Considering trying to use a Tome Barbarian, because I feel like hitting things at the moment, not sure why, maybe because I've been reading the pathfinder thread. I'm not sure if they'd go for it from what I've heard but on the off chance they do, what should I expect?

"I speak everything!"

I've always wondered how many points one would have to plug into the speak language to speak every language in D&D. But I obviously don't know every language in D&D, in fact I know very few past the languages listed in the core rule book. Yes I know there’s a spell for this, but that’s not t...

Pathfinder

So, I'm considering joining a pathfinder game, however having never so much as skimmed a pathfinder player's manual before yesterday I decided to ask around about what to expect before going any farther. So, being fully aware of the whole "3.5 but slightly different" line and that Frank ap...

Well, it's good to see the board's piss and bile isn't gone I'd begun to wonder if the D&D morality thread had taken it all up.

Well I was talking about core, but you make a good point splat books certainly only made the fighter's lot in life worse.

That spell combo sounds interesting, mind telling me the spells?

Fighter V Wizard

So, recently I was talking to a net acquaintance of mine, who I assume is a girl because she refuses to be wrong about anything. Anyway, we got to talking about D&D, I was thinking of joining a 3.5 game as the "meat shield" that was the actual job description. Well I had asked if I cou...

Please note that the Willing Suspension of Disbelief is diffrent for every person, some people's can't stand up to sharp pointy sticks through the gullet causing nonlethal damage.

 One of us must be missing something. I'm talking about characters taking their hard-earned gold for which they adventured the old-fashioned way, and instead of buying a wand of whatever, they buy the gem, etc., and commission some shit. Well, you actually can't buy that sort of gem with ...

I think they're talking about my wish for gems, kill shit, soul bind, senario. But you still have to kill really high level shit for that, and soul trapping magic is really high level as well.

Well yeah, you have to go kill the fuck out of something. But seeing as we're talking about D&D you were going to do that anyway. So picking up the souls of the things you just stabbed in the face doesn't seem like too much of a brain teaser.

Note that while mundane gems can be made from Wish, and they are useful for spell components, Magic Gems (the planar currency) cannot be made from Wish. Anything that can be made from Wish will never be a planar currency. "You can't make this by Wishing for it" is the special factor about...

Well souls can be found anywhere, and you can buy gems with gold. So, there's that. Really though, it's just a matter of thinking about it. If the planes run on planer currency then it would make sense that there would be way to get your hands on planer currency. If that means you inserting the void...

Trivially easy for casters. Your fighters are already little bitches so immagine them without all their fancy weapons and armor. So maybe your right, if your party has a canny wizard in the group. Or they're all casters who've decided to take up the diffrent positions they could, which is to say, al...

"What gives" is that the game punishes players for doing that. There's no advantage in buying a keep, or body guards, or any other flavorful stuff, and there's every advantage in not because then you can spend it on stuff that makes your character more powerful. Plus, the entire game is bu...
