Re: CR vs. ECL

A 10th level wizard is actually a CR10 challenge as wizards can typically throw down some nasty stuff with or without magic items.

The reason why a 10th level fighter is gimp as a CR10 challenge probably has more to do with the fighter than the challenge.

Save or die spells just got even better than evocation.

Let me change what I meant by 'summon temporialy'[br][br]You can call a spirit from the outer planes as per summon monster XVII, but making coins out of magic is not okay.[br][br]However, I don't think coins made of illusion are even a problem, because you can cast dominate on the merchant and ...

Re: A Whole New World Project

You could make the duration of all spells capped at 1/round per level and remove the ability to actually make anything from raw mana (summoning temporially is okay) and you'd reign in alot of things. For example, wishing for items is now shot in the face. So is fabricate. And all the stupid create f...

I too was nervous about 'Blacks=Beastmen' though I could see the objective .. I think.

The current races are god damn fantastic however. I love the little but BIG differences. What inspired the Duszek?

A whole bunch of that stuff sounds pretty positive - they have noted a problem with skills, multiclassing, and other problems.

Not really, especially if your friends are the sort of people to have laptops etc. It's pretty fesiable for them to just get the SRD - I think the 3.5/3.0 ones are both out there still.

What does a powerful starting character mage look like in Sh

My RL gaming group are about to kick off a game of 4th ed. None of us have ever played SR before (Well, I played like 3 games of 2nd ed years ago) and I'm struggling with this: What the heck does a strongly playable starting mage look like?[br][br]I figure it's got 5's in magic and mental attributes...

Re: GURPS and Hero - The Meta Problem

Frank seems to have it in one. I have been using the idea of benchmarking vs sample encounters as a mechanism for assessing characters (then you know where the trouble is) but the "you must be able to do this atleast this weel' seems to work as well.

However, the player with the rogue really needs to know the game system upside down, otherwise they will suck and get pissed off.

The objective on the tomes are to bring the other classes up to that level. So cleric, druid, sorcerer and wizard okay (exception might be sorcerer, but it is still plenty good.)

Re: Deadlands interesting concept that needs some help . . .

hehe. My RL gaming group wnats to try the new deadlands: reloaded and I am under enthused as to the merits there of. It suffers from the SAME mechanical problems to - skill dice increases in a d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d12+1 scale and the default target number is 4, and dice explode. So if a guy with d4...

I think Miracle is in there because Miracle 1/day is not at all out of line with what a 19th level character can do. at will might be though :)

Re: Shadowrun

You are reading it wrong. They still HAVE their spell casting (He notes that tit's no different from the PHB cleric unless noted, and says they get spell casting at level one), though the 20th level power is completely inconsequential, these guys are just nuts from woe to go. :P [br][br] 1186487250[...
