Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)

Also odd to think that the media has the goal of trump losing election. If anything most of them would prefer the opposite. You live in a world where there wasn't a large chunk of loosely democrat aligned media figures constantly talking up the prospects of somehow magically ending Trumps chances a...

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)

No one was "politically focusing" on this crime instead of others. I'm not saying the choice to prosecute when and how they did was the "political focus". I know the process is a messy bunch of nonsense to the point that even if they did want to expedite one prosecution over ano...

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)

I absolutely don't buy that this makes him stronger. It's what the majority of the polls seem to say. Which is why I wouldn't recommend celebrating it as a big win vs Trump. It's unfortunate that it's a minor state case about campaign finance stuff instead of a real case about his public crimes Whi...

You know there is a lot of polling that suggests this only makes him stronger in the election right?

Re: The Biden Administration (No Lago)

You know. Even as the nitpicker who pointed out the ICC/ICP thing there, I do want to say. It isn't important for the vast majority of conversations on this. Both are very important international courts that somewhat lack an enforcement mechanism. Both have been dragged kicking and screaming to very...

The ICJ did also issue a ruling basically demanding Israel pull out of Raffa in basically a meek buried in the Friday press cycle non-controversial mirroring of the US red line from a week before... which...

Re: [Non-US] News That Makes You laugh/cry/neither...

Its hard to blame a specific single factor for an entire election loss. But it IS easy to observe in this case that at the very least it killed Blair's career as a politician forever. And the taint from that killed UK new labour as a viable political movement in the eyes of electorate. Now the media...

Re: [Non-US] News That Makes You laugh/cry/neither...

If there is one thing recent history tells us its that once Labour gains power in the UK they will have an iron grip on it right up until one day their leader ties his entire brand to dying on the hill of supporting US backed war crimes in the middle east. So right up until he does that Kid Starver ...

If you go by the original games then mechanically they are also sometimes items, garments, basic game menu functions, vehicles, punk kit cars?, gods, basic forces of nature, time and space itself, artificial mechanical or biological or biomechanical creations, nurses and policewomen (claiming they a...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

Worst I have had is sometimes the entire forum doesn't load or loads slow, and usually a retry or a wait does it fine. I mean. Search probably still doesn't work but that's pretty standard. Oh and in the process of nearly losing a password a while back I found myself thinking it must be nearly impos...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

Well. The main thing I ever actually use discord for does. I have used discord in a purely text based stuff as well. And not liked it. As I said already possibly the microphone association.

But then again. I hated IRC too. I don't know, these chat apps and communities just feel bad.

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

I hate always disliked discord. Perhaps because of all of the interactions with microphones it has made far worse than interactions with microphones should be. I bought a new computer in January, I still haven't got around to installing discord on it largely because of my dislike of it, despite the ...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

In context, saying that every class in your game can be used to play a soul knife, and then saying that the classes in your game are tightly controlled, is pretty funny. Look, there isn't a DeadDM post that goes by that he doesn't do some or all of the following. 1) DIsagree with a strawman 2) Disa...

You contend You don't address or understand what I contend. You produce "examples" which mishmash a tightly controlled rigid class system with an excessive number of classes, and compare it to a disciplined small number of classes with massive freedom of option selection bordering on (but...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

I probably shouldn't post from my phone - it does lead me to make minor errors when throwing out example numbers but pointing out a calculation error isn't a refutation of the argument. You making a very significant error of multiplying the wrong numbers indicates a lack of understanding consistent...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

A class based system with 20 classes is only better than a class based system with 100 classes if it provides the options expected in the play space. No. A class based system with anything is only better if a lot of things. But you don't get to bring in those lot of things, because we are talking a...

Re: [Non-US] News That Makes You laugh/cry/neither...

The 'big' war crimes news are the uncovered mass graves Yeah but that doesn't count for my prediction because it wasn't effectively planned for media launch shortly before a weekend. It is instead an example of how much the media is still towing the Israeli line even without excuses like the weeken...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

But a small number of classes with a large number of selectable abilities is not meaningfully different than a large number of classes with a large number of pre-selected abilities that can be freely multi-classed. Well. First all your claim that those two things are not different is based on funda...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

It actually does matter if your extra dice come from flanking or raging. Except it doesn't. Because all of the conditionals for the damage dice are always easy ones to meet. The explicit intention being that these classes almost always get their damage dice if they want to. Because the entire set o...

So anyway. My prediction of a big Israeli war crime event was based on an observed pattern/media cycle theory that says its probably some time in the next 12 hours or so or they wait another week. And while they are talking up how they are definitely right now ready to storm Raffa in the next five m...

Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

I'd take classes that blend together to be a repudiation of PL's contention that classes must be distinct . If that blending is more than the minimal amount, I'll just point at it as an example of failure in class system design. Kaeliks mentioning all the D&D classes that mostly just do extra d...

Did I miss this? I don't know what you're referring to. And there are four base classes with Necromancer in their names on the den. Re: Can Prestige Classes Be Salvaged?

The benefit of a class system is that characters invest in the ability that they want No it isn't. But lets change that to "players" so it isn't total insanity. Then I can say, no it isn't. The enforcement of options clustered together in a class isn't the end goal. It's the methodology. ...
