In standard D&D religions you won't have too many varying opinions because whenever there's a dispute, you can quite literally just ask the god himself, assuming the god doesn't decide to come down and tell you (or simply cut off your spells for going against his wishes). There's really no room...

Really? I didn't get that vibe from the sourcebook. It said that fancy magic items like Soul Gems and raw Chaos can be bartered for major magic items.

One more question: The Wish Economy puts hard limits on purchasing magic items in an attempt to separate wealth from personal power. The intent is to get PCs willing to spend items on things like fortresses, fancy art, and other stuff. But since souls can be used to bypass the 15,000 gp limit on mag...

Another source of problems is the nature of divinity in D&D. In the real world, religion relies upon faith as a primary motivator for behavior. In D&D, the gods not only have physical forms but can converse with worshipers via Commune and Contact Other Plane spells. These are both 5th-level ...

I'm considering implementing some of the classes as recommended in a previous post. One more question: in regards to magic item gathering and the economy, the Tome series assumes that the setting is pre-industrial where most people are uneducated peasants and the truly powerful dudes live in crazy p...

Gaming Sessions Gone Wrong

"Hate the player, not the game!" Lurk around on enough Table-top RPG message boards, and you'll find some thread about a guy who went through gaming hell. Maybe the Dungeon Master kept trying to insert his horrible fetishes into the adventure; maybe the Fighter spent all his gold on ale an...

If you want D&D to extend beyond a niche hobby, you'll need to make it more "user-friendly." Expense: To play 3rd or 4th Edition, you need to buy 3 Core Rulebooks ($75-90) and a good battle mat ($25) at the very least. If you want to expand your options, splatbooks can cost anywhere fr...
FWIW, I don't like the people who feel the need to play atheists on D&D because they tend to be wankers.
Most "atheists" in D&D tend to be anti-theists, like people who don't worship the Gods because they don't like them or some such. Some gamers I...

I'm reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, a free collection of stories on Amazon Kindle. I'm not ashamed to say that the movies turned me on to the books.

Thanks for the answers.

If the rules I'm going to implement are too limited, what would you recommend adding as options?

Questions regarding The Tome Series

http://code.google.com/p/awesometome/downloads/list I am planning on implementing rules from the Tome series into my next D&D game. I have some questions about some of the rules. Due to the size of the document, I only plan on implementing a few rules to test things out. They are: LA 0 Drow -5 o...
