Seems like ToH would be one of those rare situations where warlocks are actually good... though I'm not sure what level they get that godawful summon undead power that's rubbish for anything but triggering traps. Does flight help avoid traps any?

"The door is locked with unpickable mechanisms that are immune to simple spells." Good god... just reading that phrase again fills me with so much rage... Is it odd that while I don't really much care for 4ed, I am really looking forward to the first decent D&D video game to use it?

Ugh... saw this shit while following the arcane power scan- err, that thread that was wonderful example of how WotC's plan to kill pdf sales only delayed Arcane Power being pirated by a few days and actually lost them legit sales they might have gotten otherwise. I kind of wonder why he doesn't just...

One of the other feats that do things that should've probably just been free in the first place?

To be fair, 3ed had that sort of silliness too. Fiery bursts of magic that didn't actually ignite anything or have an blast effect and all that.

Turn undead with enough of a DC to give a shit about?

An all purpose, one size fits all Smite that does a little less damage than Smite Evil?

The Clone Wars cartoon was just DBZ with lightsabers. It honestly didn't feel like Star Wars to me at all. To make things worse, there was pretty much no story at all. It was all just random hack and slash. I'd make a case for Star Wars working best when it is just mindless action scenes of magic s...

At this point I'm almost surprised WW hasn't started up a 'World of Darkness: Classic' line, that tries to create some sort of unholy mix of WoD's fluff and nWod's crunch.

I suppose there's some horror to it if you treat the whole gaining kewl powers shit as just a means of bringing the character into the world of scary stuff in the first place and it is all still way out their league and now after them just because they're special. Sort of 'Hey, guess what you're str...

Don't forget one of the more bat shit crazy examples of why nWoD combat is screwed over: Finger of Death in Can. No, really for just a dot in resources you can buy Bear Mace which will not only completly disable a Werewolf, but outright kills mortals in a single shot. Hell, even regular mace is dead...

We'll have to do so many of them for WoD. nWoD and oWoD fal in surprisingly different ways often enough. And Promethean needs a rant all by itself. -Username17 oWoD Hunter:tR comes to mind as extreme fail as well. Besides the fact that good portion of the book was just a teaser ad for Exalted, It's...

Re: Videogame engines inspired by D&D discussion.

And yet...the tropes came back. Characters heavy with 'arcane' magic skills tended not to wear armor. This wasn't simply because of low strength, but mages had to carry so many components that wearing armor was fairly impractical for encumbrance reasons. Characters with magical healing skills tende...

I meant the PCs as well, the whole drow, teiflings, and that god awful @$@#%$! race that dies if they don't feel pain thing.

Actually does Cure X Wounds still hurt undead in 4e.. hell, can it even be cast on a monster in 4e?

Course then you have to ask, if not will saves, then what do Wizards have? I'd say give them good fort saves. Ditch the moronic 'they're weak from all the studying' crap (which makes no sense in the first place, since they're doing just as much hard travel and adventuring as the other classes) and s...

* 3e is pen and paper. * 4e has a character builder. * 5e will be computer-based. * This is bad. I can actually see 5e becoming some sort of pay to access communal mmog gateway. I'm actually sad to see that there wasn't a ranged version of the melee training feat so that bows might actually be marginally useful for non ranger characters again. My favorite of the phb2 feats so far is the one where make they half elves have to wait till level 11 and spend an extra feat just t...

Pretty much any god damn arbitrary weapon/armor (no casting wizard spells in armor period, Clerics can't use edged weapons) class/race restrictions (no dwarven wizards!) that the DM forces on us because he still jacks off to 2nd edition sacred cows.
