Re: SoDs

Saving someone couldn't be a combat action or you'd become a CDG magnet. Then it boils down to the heal skill raising you from the dead with imporved flavour text. Fine with me.

SoDs

Is there any support for spells where a failed save actually kills you? Can they be redone like 3.5 disintergrate and still be worth casting?

SoDs are a nuisance when you want death to be rare. They also give an unlucky die roll too much consequence. Just like the autofail on a 1 rule.

You'd better start wearing those way-cool Can' o Whup Ass t-shirts, Frank. On top of a black Will Smith wifebeater. And I better start calling you Don Frank.

That's awesome.

I'm fine with limiting access to actual magic abilities but some people really need to get a grip. HIPS isn't some mystical ability. I'm sure everyone here has opend a cupboard to get something and not seen it. Then gotten laughed at when someone else sees it straight away. If an inanimate object ca...

Once again thats a result of the fighter as written being the worst PHB class.

This is an RPG, there are mechanics for diplomacy etc. WW has them too so don't bother trying to claim D&D is for rollplayers or something similarly lame.

I'll agree with this, if something is a 100% death chance no matter who you are then it dosen't need to exist.

RC, you'd prefer VCL over caster level = character level.

Re: Replacing xp costs.

Time isn't the only thing that matters in a dynamic world. More to the point this is the same as ammunition capacity limits in an FPS. You get scads of rounds for your assault rifle and a few for the grenade launcher. The idea is to make it balenced if a PC uses all his grenades in one fight. If tha...

Re: Replacing xp costs.

I'd imagine those working slightly differently seeing I assume they take place in a dynamic world. The plotless dungeon crawl basically assumes that the PCs can do whatever they want and the monsters won't do anything intelligent about it.

Boulie is right, removing caps will make people post more really funny "phj34r /\/\y 1337 p0\/\/3r5" threads. Sounds like a good deal to me.

But if you expend yourself now on some git then you'll be spent later when the tentacle beast shows up. As long as there are multiple adversarial parties you have to care about being out of juice.

I like XPH psions as a base. At least you don't get an arbitrary number of spells to prep.
