Re: The Rogue role in the Iconic-4 Party
Since both of them already don't suck that really dosen't improve my thoughts about the WotC min/max board.

I still call charm a combat spell. Obviously it has lots of good uses outside combat too.[br][br]What I mean by non-combat is stuff like:[br]Animal messenger[br]animate dead (big cast time increase to suit me anyway)[br]raise dead etc[br]curse water[br]divination[br]hero's feast[br]planar ally/bindi...

I think we can all agree that if a spell lets you replicate another you should have to pay any cost assotiated with the replicated spell. Includeing long casting times.

Re: Replacing xp costs.
Quest requirements are fine with me. They give some nice flavour text. What they don't give is balence.[br][br]I wouldn't suggest a direct port of the willpower pool, the recovery mechanisms are massively campaign dependent. Possibly the Exalted version is mostly useable (limit breaks have to go for...

I can't imagine that anyone here actually likes these things. The flavour text sucks since you need to bring metagame stuff into the actual game. The mechanics are bad (in 3.0) or really stupid (in 3.5).[br][br]Unfortunately I haven't seen a better idea posted. Whatever it is needs to actually deter...

1086329724[/unixtime]]Not really. I've been playing this way ever since Frank started posting about it on Nifty, and it's been one of the best changes I've made in my game. When the only thing dependent on caster level is your spells known and spells per day, it makes people a lot more willing to b...

1086171310[/unixtime]]The psion is a weird case, because even actual 20th level psions under the current rules have to pay extra power points to do additional damage dice with level 1 spells, unlike other casters, who get damage upgrades free with each additional caster level. Does anyone find it unbalenced for a 19/1 ftr/wiz to do 20d6 damage single target, close range, save for half with his 1st level spells? (DC = 10 + 1/2 HD + int)
What if a 20 wiz can do the same thing about 10 times per day?
What about a 20 psion doing it at least 343 times per day?

Re: The Rogue role in the Iconic-4 Party
I've seen a couple claims that rogues are overpowered at WotC recently. Along with the normal SA is too limited bit. (Which I agree with.) Other than that I haven't noticed a backlash.

Re: Fixing the Wealth-by-Level system
I would love to divorce wealth from power level as much as possible. Dragon hordes, king's treasuries, merchant caravans all screw up any attempt at useing cash as a power measure. I'd be quite happy to replace the curency with something less abundant in the game world.[br][br]I'd also like to reduc...

Re: New TWF/flurry system
One good start for making non-matched weapons viable would be to loosen up the proficiency system. The main gauche and rapier should be a proficiency and weapon focus (or anything that requires you to select a weapon) should apply to both.

But all that stuff could be done if a halfway decent DM was around. Seems the real problem is that these people are paying too much attention to what the book says.

No, its flavour text first thinking. If a world has no consistant definition of how things work versimillitude is lost. Particularly when the scource of inconsistancy is a metagame desire.

Re: The cinematicness of D&D compared to other systems.
Like Oberon says, its like a 50 hour movie. Just because something is cool dosen't mean it should suddenly stop working so it dosen't become mundane, thats frelling stupid. If a move works it should keep working, given a long enough campaign it'll become old hat.
