I agree that some people here are like the economist who predicted 7 of the last 3 recessions. Is there some instance where we predicted a product would fail and it succeded that I'm forgetting? When we say that the industry is composed of failing smarmgarglers that's not because we'er overly negat...

Edit: I misread this. But Catalyst was in the top 5 this spring...does that mean that SR5 is selling well?Catalyst and White Wolf were doing pretty well until they went under, but today there's no way you'd call either of them an industry leader unless Shadowrun 5e sold very well indeed.

[SR4] Chase Combat Rules...Make No Goddamn Sense. Help.
So a while back I tried to do this thread which became about crashing/ramming damage which...yes...is retarded in SR4. Like it is worse for you if you crash an eighteen wheeler into a brick wall than a scooter into the same brick wall retarded. Like crazy town. I *think* I have now fixed *that* issu...

[SRPC] Strength/Body and Charisma/Willpower Implementation
As mentioned in this thread. How is this for an implementation? Strength is a derived physical attribute based on (and equal to ) Body. Every point of Body you buy gets you a free point of Strength. Strength helps determine melee damage, throwing weapon ranges, and (if you choose to use them) encumb...

We had holy avenger pistols in the Crypts of Chaos, with bullets of slaying demons and bullets of slaying devils . I certainly hope the pistols in question were something cool and classy, like a 1911. Either you buy non-reusable arrows in packs of 50, in which case your high-level character fires o...

Edge Anything that makes any player and/or the narrative itself less of a slave to dice luck at any time is awesome. Also, I like the idea of beads/tokens/little whoso-whatsits that you can hold onto and chip in. I understand you mean the Shadowrun atribute. I dont dislike the concept per se, but I...

You are an idiot. Everyone could focus more on some things than others but I would like if Mages could use guns and Street Samurai could use scrolls and both could use computers. Shadowrun is a classless sytem. Mages CAN use guns, mages and street samurai CAN use computers, but Street Samurai can't ...

Wow, I am five pages behind this thread. Well that's what happens when you vanish for a month. Edit: Guns and drones do that job as well as you'd want a secondary offensive role to be. Damn man, leave something for the street Samurai to do. Guns and drones are indeed fine things to use during combat...

I am still working on this [the title of this thread] (by which I mean this ). Other projects have forced me to go off the grid for a while, as has life in general, but SRPC This thread is kind of silly because a lot of people who admit up front that they don't play shadowrun/don't know anything abo...

I found your post a little hard to follow, but a few things I wanted to say. Oh, yes, sorry to respond like a full month later! Life got busy! A dice pool of 15 is an incredibly accomplished shootist. It shouldn't be assumed as our default here. Taking one of the world's most skilled pistoleros and ...

*Sigh* This is starting to feel distinctly childish. I have just asked Frank a few direct questions, could someone point that out to him, please? If not, fine. I'd be pleasantly surprised if his answers lead to productive discussion. Edit1: I'd Ignore Frank, but that would basically be disabling aro...

@ddmw: And what about the gun example? In a setting where guns can be hacked (and remain the pinnacle of personal weapons tech), would you not use a gun? *** And if the threat of hacking the cybereyes is enough that players don't get them, then the hacking might as well not exist This assumption pre...

The thing is, the benefits of cybereyes are kind of abstract and variable. They include a lot of intangibles. It's hard to calculate the benefit of things like thermographic vision and ultrasound; seeing in the dark and seeing through walls are extremely useful situationally, but they're hard to pin...

Whatever you think about Frank Trollman personally, I'm surprised that you've asked him not to participate in your thread. He's the one person that has been providing you honest and comprehensive feedback. This is, in fact, actually unfortunate. But his inability not to be excessively caustic and a...

If a hacker WANTS to stay at home...whatever. I think it's kind of stupid, but it should be a mechanically supported concept. There should also be things you can't do from home, faraday cages, wireless negating paint, what-have-you. Sometimes, the hacker needs to be in the field because a secure mai...

Ok, Lokathor, I don't think you actually have anything to contribute at this point. I have concluded you are basically just trolling. If he is not trolling, his goals are just so fundamentally incompatible with mine that he has absolutely nothing to offer. I want hackers to be able to hack technolog...
