In one game I played with magic enhanced, we had to have a gentleman's agreement to not use a particular magic item added by the mod because it would crash the turn generation if the item was on a battlefield. Luckily, we never had a random event that gave us that item on a commander who was in batt...

There's a new program to randomly generate maps for Windows that just released recently; the maps it makes look good and are fairly well balanced.

Frank, have you considered Magic Girl Melvie in your Ginger Rune theorycrafting? It's a decent sized body at 4/4, it's card draw effect is situationally very strong, and if you don't need or want the card draw effect you can play it as a decent body off of Ginger. I could see playing it turn 5-6 aft...

Mask of the Black Death: At best, this is equivalent to +5 life. At worst, tihs is equivalent to +0 life. This makes aggro decks cry, but against slower-paced decks it is either outright suboptimal or has to be timed well. I can see control decks running this. I agree that it's probably a control d...

If you want to grind through the 20 Private Matches thing fairly fast, check the reddit thread and you can find opponents. In general I can't really suggest you liquify stuff en masse right now, when we're not long from the expansion dropping - most anything you liquify now could conceivably turn ou...

While I broadly agree with that assessment, I just want to mention one thing in particular that stood out because it's the only thing I unambiguously completely disagree with: Starting life also being hard life limit reduces effectiveness of healing and increases effectiveness of direct-to-damage to...

So they're finally dropping a couple nerfs on Damia and Forest Roach (for a Feb 26 patch):
- Piercing Rune's mana cost after an evolve from 1 to 2.
- Goblin Mage now tutors for Followers costing 2 or less rather than exactly 2.

Yes. You can also only boost one spell level by using gems as far as I know. You can hook mages into communions though - all communions and sabbaths are just one communion/sabbath per side per battle... Bloodletting is mostly great against enemies with similar or lower HP as your guys. Note that pre...

I have *no clue* about the exchanging starting position stuff, that seems super strange to me and I have never seen it happen before. I have played in a couple games organized through reddit before, and those never had it happen. It's not a reddit thing, it's just that at least one person is fucking...

You don't really have to guess for most of the pretender titles, there's lookup tables people have made: http://z7.invisionfree.com/Dom3mods/index.php?showtopic=2610 Man: Fire>=4, Air >=3, Production >= 1, Growth >= 1, Earth >=2 Ulm: Dominion>= 7, Death >= 4, Blood >= 4, Growth >=1, Marignon: Fire >...

Man is basically a lot of really elite troops, and a bunch of casters that are strong and cost-efficient but extremely monodimensional. Man basically makes a really good army and puts a big communion of old men behind it - but they often have no plan B if that doesn't work for whatever reason. Ulm i...

Quagmire is not terribly helpful for your nation. It makes the battlefield count as a swamp, which pretty much hurts you as much as your opponent. Ice pebble staff is probably the sort of thing you have to have a planned use for - destroying particularly hard to kill sacreds or thugs or whatever. It...

I wouldn't worry overmuch about trying to have a 2-province gap between forts. There's a lot to be said in favour of a clump of adjacent forts that can all reinforce each other in case of attacks or sieges - and it only impairs your recruitment of arrowfodder and evocation bait a little bit. If you ...

They were split into several pages when posted originally, but got reposted in this thread They are for Dominions 3 and are therefore quite dated. Parts of them are just factually wrong now due to changes in the game since Dom3, and the value judgements in terms of what's worth making are similarly ...

The meta at different levels is different. At A3 currently, I see mostly Daria Rune, Control Sword, Roach Forest, Control Blood, and Aggro Shadow (probably >90% of my games are one of those 5), and then maybe one game in ten or less is something weird like D-shift, PTP decks, Aggro blood, or Control...

I honestly have no idea how many of Pratchett's jokes are 'expected' to fly over the head of the reader. It's hard to tell. I started reading Pratchett when I was like 12 or so, and at that time I missed far more references and allusions than I got, but even so I enjoyed almost all* the books very m...

What you fetch: Face dragon grabs a Forte and is happy. Ramp Dragon is usually hoping for a Prince of Darkness, Genesis Dragon, or Bahamut, but honestly doesn't much mind almost any expensive card in their deck - if it grabs a Forte or whatever you will manage to survive having one of your best card...

Dragon Emissary is good for a lot of Dragon decks. Radiance Angel is a 3-of in my pure Seraph deck and Elana Seraph decks like it EVEN MORE than that, so I wouldn't melt it - it's a legit good card for a lot of Havencraft. Fairy Beast shows up in a few Forestcraft decks that want to take it late, bu...

Daria: People usually don't run Rune Blade Summoner in Daria decks. It's too expensive and only a single body on the board - so it tends to just get hit by removal before it can do much. It's a workable replacement or addition to the Flame Destroyers in D-shift decks though. Big clear is usually you...

Vampiric Fortress I most often see as part of something on Turn 4, with a summon bloodkin or Vania + Evo Vania, or Turn 6 with a Night Horde. For example, you have one other creature alive on the board of any sort, and you put down a Summon Bloodkin and a Vamp Fortress. You press the end turn button...

Looking online, Death's Breath is incorrectly not given it's necromancy effect in at least one website. In-game and on this website it's correctly shown with Necromancy (6): Give +0/+1 and Ward to allied Zombies. Having 3 different ward 2/3 on the field is a GREAT way to completely fuck several deck...

Shadowcraft doesn't usually go Path to Purgatory - it's totally counter-synergistic to it's spend shadow plan, and also usually by the time you could even consider getting a 30-shadow plan off the ground as Shadowcraft, you could have long since just already killed the enemy with Mordecai or whateve...

There are only the two madness cards so far as far as I know. In terms of discard outlets - Altered Fate discards your whole hand to draw the same number of cards discarded, which is amazing if you have any discard combo cards on the field and not that useful otherwise. If you don't already have som...

Havencraft http://imgur.com/10s9fSR.jpg Leader: Eris. Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia! So Havencraft is aesthetically very MTG-White, being all about clerics and religion and so forth. However, the designers decided literally anything can be part of Havencraft if you put 'Holy' in front of it. You ca...
