They also brought back self-Awakening. Animal Soul Your close bond with an animal allows you to use magic that targets animals on yourself. Prerequisite: Animal companion or mount class feature. Benefit: You can allow spells and effects that affect animals, animal companions, and special mounts to a...

They're not really competing with Hearthstone or MtG. The Pathfinder card game is a co-op deck building game, played against a preset adventure and not another player.

Half and half. They've got some cool ideas (Bloodrager is neat), and some real bad ones (Swashbucklers are just more crappy glass cannon martials, a feat that straight up gives Cha to all saves).

In other news... this is a joke, right? Please tell me this is a hoax.

Yeah. Brawler looks like it's slightly more competent than monk... but still not nearly good enough. The feats are cool, but the limited uses per day are harsh compared to the duration, and the feats you can get are... underwhelming.

Note that whether or not you can do that is dependent on if your GM subscribes to Paizo's insane FAQ = Errata stance, or just laughs at the obviously incorrect FAQ.

In that specific case, it's really more of an early access thing. The magus eventually get the ability to wear and cast in medium and then heavy armor anyway, and Str gets you improved damage when you two hand your weapon (and allows access to Power Attack). Your AC will suck at low levels as a Str ...

Second Chance (originally Lessons of Chaldira) lets you reroll a failed save once a day. So it's straight up better than any of the Greater Save feats, since it applies to any save category and lets you reroll when you fail rather than when you see the number on the die but before you know the resu...

Martial damage goes absolutely insane in Mythic Adventures. The Champion path gets to increase its speed by 30 to 130 ft, and move and make a full attack at the end. Which would be pretty nice and close to what martial attacks should look like, but Mythic Power Attack, Mythic Improved Critical, and ...

It's still pretty dumb to make it a feat, just make it a template you get when you go through the ritual. Oh yeah, absolutely. Not a template though, that'd be pretty pointless for just one ability. The way Paizo implemented the effect is pretty dumb. But it's not presented as a player option. Crit...

The feat literally only exists in the book for NPC use. It's just a way to have mooks that explode.

Not all of the pieces are that reminiscent of Pathfinder. That picture in particular was done by Wayne Reynolds, who does a ton of art for PF.

Not only is the product utterly pointless- it's literally about mechanics that nobody other than the GM will ever, ever see- most of the stuff it sets out to do can already be done with spells in the core rulebook.

Even with a kind GM that won't fuck you, until you're high enough level and rich enough to ditch the godawful misfire mechanic the dice just might. Plus, without a way to add an ability score to damage (such as the Gunslinger's Gun Training, or just using a composite bow), you're going to find your ...

That version of Spell Tinkerer is from the first pass of the playtest. They already fixed it so you can only affect a given spell effect once.

The maximum ability score you can buy is a 15, and ability score increases come in chunks of 2. So having a +1 or +2 to your primary ability score from your race means pretty much the same thing, as long as any secondary bonus applies to an ability score you could conceivably care about, like Con.

I'm not really into realism at the expense of other aspects of the game, but some things just get a bit silly. I'm fine with an exceptional character with high strength or some other effect being able to penetrate a steel wall with a toothpick. But not a commoner.

I go back to my original point. Hard things in D&D should just have a high AC and appropriate energy resists and immunities. It's the best option the system's got. That results in a wall that anyone can take down with any weapon that can deal lethal damage given enough time. Sorry, but you just...

It's because Paizo (stupidly) sometimes makes "rules changes" in their FAQ. This is a straight up change to how paragon surge functions.

Why they do this instead of just using errata is beyond me.

This is stupid and you should feel stupid. Hold person is in all ways worse for the game than deep slumber . The first leaves you helpless and gives your enemies a time limit for coup de gracing your ass. The latter boots you out of the combat, but offers no harm at all if your allies win the battl...

Really, the existence of spells that can totally shut someone down with a single saving throw are a bigger problem than the saving throw math. It wouldn't be nearly the issue it is if more spells were like hold person , in that you got a new save to throw the effect off every round, or like calcific...
