Re: Let's Ramble About Weapons and Armor

See, things like the buckler, and the targe are, strictly speaking, inferior to a full sized Norse round shield, they don't cover as much of your body from attack, they can't stop arrows effectively, a litany of reasons to use a shield. That is not nescessarily true. It holds true for formation com...

Anything else is needlessly complicated and thus, stupid: in order to make your system more transparent, it should be the simplest possible, and the simplest way to create any probability distribution is to let the dice create the curve you want, and then use a linear function to re-scale (... or t...

Since planets are alive, even barren worlds like Luna would have less background fuckery than actual outer space. But... did the clowns who did 5e seriously decide to double the size of background counts? What possible use is there for a -24 background count that wasn't served by a -12 background c...

Have they said what the background count of the moon is? Not as such, no. Outer space is classified as a "void" according to the rules: Outer space is one large void, away from the biosphere and the emotional content of metahumanity... Now dependign on whetehr your read that as "mana...

The people playing D&D 5th edition play it mostly because they grew up with D&D and they place a lot of sentimental value on the IP. Add to that that there has never been a "good" version of D&D. The rules have always had major flaws and we still played, because at first there ...

Here you go: Astral Hazing Bonus: 10 BP (for non-Awakened characters), 15 BP (for Awakened characters) A character with this quality has expressed metagenes that somehow catalyse and feed on the character’s darker emotions and negative feelings, disturbing the character’s aura and any ambient mana i...

Wait . . Aspected? What? Did they actually change it to read that? Because i don't think it did that in SR4 O.o That would make it HUGELY OP! That's how I read it. ASTRAL HAZING BONUS: 5 KARMA (FOR NON-AWAKENED CHARACTERS), 15 KARMA (FOR AWAKENED CHARACTERS) A character with this quality has expres...

Fomorian main battle tank with astral hazing? I don't know how this works in SR5, but in SR4 this build is highly overrated unless you strap MysAd with Sorcerous Parry and Counterspell 6 on top. Otherwise you are nowhere near as hard to hit as you think you are, and you are not protecting your part...

Are Penn & Teller out of a job in the Marvel universe because Dr Strange exists? Are faux-psychics unable to impress with their act due to the presence of Professor X? Does the existence of Bullseye mean that no mortal can impress by throwing knives? Apples and oranges. The OP clearly states D&...

Wait... So attribute represents the difference between 5-16, and possibly just straight up auto success. And skill represents 0-3 and sometimes 5? So.... There is no such thing as a skill person with a low attribute, and people with attributes and no skills are just much better than them by a facto...

So, there's a kickstarter for a new Conan rpg . It uses a "2d20 system," where you roll two d20s, and are trying to roll as low as possible. Is this as shitty a resolution mechanic as it sounds? There's a video of Conan being played on the linked page, and I guess the John Carter and Muta...
