I'd try for a Toriko game, personally. Where you kill legendary monsters, gods, and demons, and use them to make awesome food. You could ascend to the top of Mount Celestia and butcher Zadkiel, then descend into Hell and kill Asmodeus, and use their meat to make the ultimate heaven and hell fusion ...

While Baur's version still sounds bad, at least it sounds like it was much less of a punch and more if there were actual evil members of the party. So it's a degree less terrible at least. Also, for a weaker version of full casters, while it doesn't really emulate any of them besides maybe Cleric, I...

Just my two cents on the Iomadae encounter, I think it's the result of the mindset that Lawful Good=Lawful Stupid. It's an interpretation that easily explains her entire attitude in the encounter, so I'd argue it's likely that the designer thinks that Lawful Stupid is what Lawful Good should actual...

If that is the case, than those hacks are definitely better. Providing good examples that are either pro-player balanced with pro-GM or just neutral is the best, because it doesn't show favoritism and can mitigate player-Gm argument over what happens. Even in good groups argument over exactly what h...

The spheres do have a halfway decent shifter in their line-up, or at least I've been told, I'm not a huge fan of Spheres really. The discussion on the Shifter is still going on, with the only official stance I can see from paizo is the same customer service manager popping it to try and keep control...

@Zingata: I don't know if you got that Math is the most important things in an RPG from my OP, but if so, I'm not arguing that. I am arguing that the underlying math and the system is a very important part of the game that seems to not have as much attention paid to it as other parts of the game, an...

To be clear, when I say doing the math right, I don't mean making some soulless number-driven game. Because if anything have good baseline math behind your system should not really affect the fun of your game unless you over complicate it. If anything it improves the fun by making less things for pe...

Why is math so underrated?
Reading through OSSR's, Anatomies of Failed Designs, Drunk Reviews, or even discussions of RPG's in general on this forum, I've noticed a recurring trend among games, even ones not universally despised, and it is that the math behind the game is usually screwed up in some fashion or another. Ranging...

I'm going to say the probable impetus behind the design was laziness. The class looks like if someone was given the criteria of making a Shifter, looked at the work, decided to not do it and instead create some BS to try and emulate it without any of the actual work. Either that or they hit a deadli...

Well, with a class that bad, even free stuff can't help if there's not enough of it. I don't even know what this class is supposed to be really. It's not really a class for shifting, since it's arguably worse at it then other classes like the druid, which someone did the math on. If it's a monk-drui...

Shifter is on PFSRD now. Look ye upon their works and despair. ... This is so full of shit. Is there 1 player who intend to play a shifter, or is this class a complete waste of space ? There were people who intended to play a shifter, but even they didn't see this sack of garbage coming. Backlash o...

@Voss: While I don't doubt they're removing posts, they haven't touched any of mine yet. Maybe they just didn't get to them yet, because I wasn't kind to that piece of crap class. Also, while the blank five-star reviews are annoying for existing, the page-long ones are even worse and seem to be tryi...

One way to solve the incorporeal problem is to take the WHFB approach and make it so that Ethereal units can be killed through combat resolution/crumbling when the caster is killed. Alternatively, just make it a percentage miss chance like with other monsters. How this would apply in fluff terms I'm...

Some pieces have come in on the puzzle of why the Shifter is so bad from some posts by Mark Seifter on the subject. While he wasn't directly involved with the class, he does say that part of the intent was to cut down on the number of options in a class, since the devs felt the number of options wer...

Maybe Knorr was an adult before the awakening? I think there are several jackpointers/NPCs still around who are human and were adults during the awakening, which kind of ruins the argument. If anything, with high magic and tech availability, if you have enough money and aren't constantly putting yo...

Laser ammo is unlikely to be enchanted, as even enchanting the battery should not have an effect on the energy produced unless I read the rules wrong. This is true, however enchanting the lens es might have an effect. I can't say that I recally any aspect of how AT handles enchanting weapons/ammuni...

Bullets loaded with magical effects sound interesting, but there are a couple of issues that can pop up depending on what rules are being used for enchanting items (I was unable to find any in the thread, please point them out if they are there.) 1. Ammo for the weapon itself. Laser ammo is unlikely...

That I don't agree with. They're really dredge the bottom of the barrel for material, in much the same way WotC did with 3.0, 3.5 and 4th. All they really need is a Secretions of Blue Magic and Book of Eleven Swords to round out the Copypasta End Times. All their new classes share the the same desi...

Staying power is an interesting question (and something Paizo themselves doubt, given both the thinner release schedule and comments the developers made on their own forums) On the one hand it shouldn't, but on the other hand Paizo breeds fanatics, and there isn't exactly anyone challenging them ov...

Also, if we're carrying over the issues of Starfinder over from the other thread as well, apparently there's no listed price or stats for the generators you use to recharge powered equipment. So the only way to charge your gear is an armor add-on that gives you some charge for ten minutes of moving...
