Re: True20?

A friend of mine ran a True20 game, and mentioned that he liked it a lot, but he felt casters were actually a bit underpowered in this if they chose to go the direct damage path. As in "a fighter with a stick is doing better damage and not knocking themself out in the process."

Damage dealer? In core, you go Wizard.

Tank? In core, you go Cleric or Druid.

Ranged? in Core, you go Wizard.

Grapple? You go Druid.

Fixed.

Re: Bringing Them All Back: A Fix.

The thing is, I'm not sure how the rest get punished when the new character is brought back at the same XP. Granted, you could argue that organic characters are weaker than "Built at level X" characters, but I doubt it's that much so - particularly with retraining rules (and with the Tome ...

Re: Bringing Them All Back: A Fix.

I generally disagree with any form of level loss associated with character death. Because it punishes you further for not optimising, thus teaching you that the way to not be punished is to pull out every trick you can. On the (very few) occasions where PCs have died in games I run, if they want to ...

Yeah, I agree with the Count. While I totally understand that if anyone has SoD effects, then everyone needs them to stay competitive, I regret the fact that they exist at all. If there was going to be an overhaul, the removal of "You die now. Instantly. HA!" effects would be high on my pr...

Re: Half Dragons

Sure, they can pick up the slack, but that doesn't mean the half dragon in question is actually being useful during that time, and as such, they're possibly not having fun during that period. I imagine most will want to take at least one class level first, and then they're flying at level 3 or so, j...

D2 reminded me of that SNES game where you swat mosquitoes on the screen. You know the one. Probably appeared for PC either for free or in one of those "over nine thousand games on one CD, one of these games is Castle of the Winds, one of them is Moraffe's World, and all of the other games suck...

Re: 4E: what can we expect from SAGA and Bo9S?

Agreed. Although I like the fact that they attempted to combine casting and melee with the Duskblade, it still didn't work very well, and naturally the WotC boards decided it must be broken, on the grounds that it exists.

And the naming system was stupid.

Because it is the perfect idea of what a fighter/mage should be, not like that utterly broken Duskblade.

A few Tome feats

I decided to make a few more - some (Combat) feats, because it's good to have the extra options, and a few Spell Focus ones - I know casters get a lot of shininess poured into their pants just from core, without the Tomes, but still, it's not like these feats are going to make things more stupid.[br...

I always like to choose a Mephit for my Improved Familiar. Simply because I think they're cool.

Then I feel like I wasted a feat. Especially when they die. This feat is a lot nicer.
