Re: The sudden interest in psionics

Well, theoretically maybe mindblades should be usable with and without other armor, shields, etc. But if we're making it into a class, rather than a feat, that class is going to have certain types fo armor that mesh with the class. That's how D&D works.[br][br]Note that there's actually not much...

Re: Races of War

Yeah, having 2 Knights is awesome, but that's cause all these classes are awesome.

Convince that that second knight is better than an archer fighter or a juggling monk, or, you know, a wizard.

Re: The sudden interest in psionics

I'd also like to point out that there's absolutely no mechanical reason to differentiate a mindblade from an unarmed strike. They're both one-handed attacks that are always available and can't be taken from you.[br][br]Ergo, a "Soulknife" is jsut a RoW Monk whose Slam does piercing damage....

Re: Reviews of Frank's stuff? (And potential campaign)

RoW Fighter makes a fine ranger or scout. Point Blank Shot and Sniper make a ridiculous combat archer if you want one; two-weapon fighting is actually good, and there's plenty of skills available. [br][br]Depending on what you think Paladins should be, Cleric, Fighter, Samurai, or Monk might be wort...

Re: Threads that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both

Again, guys, this is an argument about Psionics, not magic. We all know that magic is more powerful than psionics. That is, in fact, the only reason you would want to play with psionics.[br][br]The real question here is whether a Slayer can fight level-appropriate enemies. I'll confess that I haven'...

Re: Threads that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both

Oh, believe me, Lago, I know that stuff exists. But we're talking about psionics here, and the only reason I can think of one would use psionics is precisely to rule out that kind of crazyness. [br][br]and Frank --[br][br]Aristocrat BAB is also Psychic Warrior BAB. I was pretty sure that Psychic War...

Re: Threads that make us Laugh, Cry, or Both

Yeah, Slayer level one sucks. So does level zero, for that matter. Track? [br][br]BUT, once you're in, it's a better Psion forever. Seriously, it's like being an eldritch knight, but you can wear adamantine full plate. Also, you get more skill points, spot and listen, +4 against mind-afecting, and e...

Re: Manxome

In fairness, compared to the devastation wrought by D&D spellcasting on unprepared campaigns, psionics *is* better. The fundamental mechanics of the system might be worse, but the implementation is better, because there aren't so many totally ridiculous thigns you can.

Re: Being Good in D&D: this one's for you, K and Frank

I think the only way to make a pure defensive character fun is proactive defenses. If you're going to have a White Mage, make him a warmage-style caster with walls, fog spells, enchantments, and the like in addition to heals and buffs...

Of *course* it's "guilty until proven innocent." That's because virtally everyone alive is racist. I am racist; you are racist. [br][br]For most of human history, racism wasn't even thought of as a character flaw. It was expected and praised. These days it's substantially less popular but ...

I'm not sure I understand why you would count a carpet of flying, for instance, against the eight item limit. The entire point of a carpet is that it provides flight without wasting actions or a body slot. That's why they're really expensive. [br][br]If you don't want slotless magic, just make peopl...

Look, putting aside blatant, egregious racism, racism is usually a trend, not a lot of good concrete examples. It's very hard to pin down, which is why it's hard to get rid of.[br][br]Making a game with one protagonist isn't intrinsically racist. In fact, it's often necessary. Development and animat...

Well, I *am* upset by Harry's romantic pairing.

I really wanted him to hook up with Luna.

Not only would it be awesome, but it's heavily, heavily foreshadowed throughout book Five. And shored up thematically in Book Six, too.

Okay, first of all, the fact that it's possible to Mind Trick Yoda is actually a design feature, in a way. What you're saying is that offensive force powers have a chance of working against enemies of the same level. And while Yoda should never get fuzzy-headed like a stormtrooper, he isn't infallib...
