Sounds incredibly depressing. But then, I'm not a big fan of the high school setting (which, I guess, puts me in the minority). However, in the interests of appearing helpful, I would suggest the following additions to your list: 8) Ensure that there is at least one (but not more than 2) sympathetic...

Re: [Random] Is this writing as awful as I think it is?

Still, the science is wrong. You can't have a visible elemental made out of stuff that isn't visible, and you can't make it "dark". Well, you can, but you can't see it. The ironic part is, given that there's magic and elementals and mime walls, he could have just called them "darkwal...

Best pun I ever heard (although I realize that's like saying, "least painful punch in the nose I ever got"):

In LotR, you remember how Galadriel gave Gimli three strands of her hair? Do you know what Gimli did with those strands?
They became a hairloom of his family.

Good idea.

Bad execution.

Heck, even adding up weird events and spending a feat slot wouldn't be so bad if the feats...y'know...did stuff.

Fire resistance 5, my ass.

Perhaps you could GM alternating "scenes?" Say, you run the "meet the old man in the tavern" scene, then your friend runs the "bandit assault on the trail" scene, etc. This would require a fairly linear storyline, though...

Well, the first paragraph isn't too horrific...a bit stilted, but readable.

Fine...:P...she wins insofar as being the cutest person thus far featured on this thread. She is not eligible for the "Cutest Denizen" title, however...this appears to be between ubernoob, Mr Sinister and Koumei. Although I think eeuuugh would have a fair shot at it without his "I wil...

Thanks, Prak. That was enlightening. I'm somewhat surprised how many of your beliefs mirror my own (I claim the title of animist, as it's the belief system that's closest to my spiritual beliefs).

Okay, Koumei wins the sexiest (thus far), and eeuuugh wins the "most likely to creep into my nightmares." That's some hell-stare you've got going on, man.

Hmm...maybe I should get a more current pic up (where you can see more than my eyes and nose)...

I agree that the "fuckery" is getting ridiculous around here, to the point that it's impeding actual communication. I second Catharz's suggestion that it be edited to something silly..."Hug you, you hugging hugger" just isn't as offensive. If you can't express your opinion withou...

Secondly, Ye Olde Magic Shoppe does not exist. Tracking down a magic item for sale requires lots of roleplayed information Oh noes. The horror. I've never been a fan of Ye Aulde Magicke Shoppe, even though the DMG indicates it "should" exist. None of my fellows like 'em either, and conseq...

I hate to interrupt a good rant with facts, but: "Rifts uses a ‘wound/vitality’ system, except it’s given weird names, because according to Kevin Siembieda, d20 is the devil...." Is kind of backwards. IIRC, the first d20 wound/vitality system was Star Wars OCR in 200X -- K Dawg has been r...

Re: Falsifiability and 'Just a Theory'.

When you say something retarded like 'evolution is just a theory' you are intentionally trying to equivocate the literal definition with the common usage of 'currently inchoate explanation'. What the Creationists actually mean, of course, is "Evolution is just a hypothesis." Which it is n...

Prak, I have a question for you. You've often mentioned that you're a Satanist; what does that actually mean for you? My knowledge of Satanism is fairly limited, and I have a hard time envisioning you (or my vague, probably-incorrect image of you) wearing a black robe and chanting the Lord's Prayer ...

2) The DM is playing Monsters or NPCs. The DM is NOT playing characters that they enjoy or will get attached to. Any character that the DM gets attached to must immediately be kidnapped, killed, vanish etc. NO FUCKING EXCEPTIONS EVER. Bullcrap. There's nothing inherently wrong with GMPCs or special...

Let's be clear about something here Talisman. PR's position is to remove all the rules from the DMG and replace them with suggestions to do things like trust your own judgement and to kick out players if you "need" to. That's not what I read, but that's between you two so I'll let it go. ...

I agree that RPG rules should be written more clearly. I also believe that no RPG can be written to cover every eventuality, and there will inevitably be times when the GM must either interpret or overrule specific rules/situation interactions. I believe that a Perfectly Written RPG is not humanly p...
