I thought this movie was total trash. Bad dialogue, annoying tone, lame action, and too much "haha D&D is so silly" crap for zoomers.
Oh word? What was your least favorite scene?

Isn’t this the premise of Metal Fighter Miku?

Re: [Spellbound] Damage revised and other miscellanea

Why do you have negative values for Strength? a STR of 0 would be equivalent to STR 10 in 3e,5e etc, ie it is a +0 in various ways. I haven't made a explicit decision, but a -6 in a core stat (STR,DEX,SPR,MND) might incapacitate someone, but stat damage and drain isn't necessarily a popular mechani...

Re: How to Implement Save or Dies in a Balanced D&D System

Maybe I’ve been brain poisoned by too much Elden Ring, but you could just use condition tracks that build up over time, similar to the way that death, madness, frostbite, etc. work in that game. You wouldn’t even need to make a discrete track for every single unique condition, just make general trac...

Ah. So your cool plan is to keep calling me a nazi. No reason to continue talking then.
Ah. So your cool plan is to conveniently ignore all the cogent arguments made, and instead play the martyr.

... Shit. You're correct, it would make a better short fiction piece.

Re: Unfucking Dragonlance

Maybe I should write a magical fantasy setting with two ugly, aging, solipsist, flabby, shit-writing wizards that get punished by an angry mob of impoverished, genetically smoothbrain, cowardly dwarves that decided they have had enough maltreatment. Sounds more like a novella than a setting, but ye...

Does that mean you are going to get rid of colour coding dragons as being for one side of the other? And you've got legitimate political factions rather than good vs evil?
Yes.

Same with the tower of High Sorcery.

Re: Unfucking Dragonlance

I had a similar idea lately, only I’m going the route of using Dragonlance tropes as inspiration, jettisoning the plot of the novels and filing off the serial numbers. I like law vs. chaos over good vs. evil, so I’m going to lean on that for the cosmic stuff. I like the gods of Krynn being gone, so ...

Re: Races of War

Another project currently in progress is Level Up 5e , which promises crunchier rules and more rigor than standard 5e while keeping things simple. Yep, sounds contradictory to me, too, and I haven't followed it enough to really know what kind of nonsense is coming out there, but people have had thi...

Re: D&D 5e has failed

I don't think 6e is on WotC's mind right now, honestly. 5E officially dropped in like 2014(?); at this point in 3E's life cycle, they had already released a revised edition. I think they are quite content just sneaking rules revisions into Xanathars and Tashas rather than doing a straight-up 5.5. So...

Re: Shopping for a new system

Sounds like 13th Age to me. Definitely wouldn't recommend that game for most denners, but some of it hews pretty close to the things she's asking for: One Unique Thing, player-defined traits, icon relationships lean into the collaborative storytelling and roleplaying she wanted. 13th Age has a lot o...
