Re: Discord Server for discussing D&D 3.5 and Stuff that's compatible with it like Tome and Pathfinder

The site search is down, but searching on Google with "site:tgdmb.com" does basically the same thing and works fine.

Re: [3.X/PF] Good non den homebrew

Attuning himself to the spirits takes a 15 minute ritual, and allows him to choose new channeled spirits from the ones available to him. Completing this ritual also resets his uses of any his abilities that have a listed number of uses per day. Can this be done as many times a day as you want? The ...

Though maybe have some local or ancestral gods specific to certain places or people, but keep them minor.
Or just local interpretations/aspects of the various gods. Ares and Mars are the same guy, but the ways Greeks and Romans worshipped him aren't identical.

Re: Workers at Paizo unionize

If they're making the staff put in crunch time and putting out PF 2e, that's as compelling a proof as I can imagine that overworking your employees will not let you produce better products or find financial success.

Cheap shots aside, I wish them luck with the process, and hope it works out for them.

Re: Annoying Game Questions You Want Answered

I think it basically comes down to how married you are to the idea that the Artificer does most of their stuff by poking at the magic item creation rules. If the Artificer has to do that, it's going to be difficult to produce something that isn't at least a little bit a broken pain in the ass. If yo...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

Also, I don't even know that it's an accurate model of what happened at 4e. It seemed more like "being in charge of D&D and not being named Mike Mearls gets you fired". So I would guess that the "lessons learned" there are more like "if you have blackmail material on upp...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

The more I look at the discussions people have about 5e, the more convinced I become that no one working in the RPG industry professionally has learned one single lesson from anything that happened in the past 20 years. The debates people have now about 5e are the same debates people had about PF te...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

They're trying to do a MTG Netflix series (or at least they were at one point). And I think there are various MTG Funkos. So I guess maybe the answer is that WotC doesn't even thing it's worth whoring out the D&D IP and would prefer to pivot entirely to selling cardboard crack. Which, financiall...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

That's only going to be the case if D&D doesn't get any competition in the TTRPG space. Which, you know, isn't a bad assumption. But it's taking on risk for no good raisin. D&D has existed for nearly 50 years at this point. It's been knocked out of the top spot all of twice, and both times ...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

D&D has too many legacy settings to start cutting stuff like that. Getting to sell a new Eberron to the Eberron fanboys and a new Forgotten Realms to the Realms fanboys and an MTG splatbook with each set release means keeping the kitchen sink, and honestly that's not a bad thing. The biggest ben...

Re: Wizards informally announces 5.5 edition

Trying to monetize a TTRPG that way seems incredibly stupid. Even if you did make Class Boosters or whatever, it's not like MTG where only one person can use any card at a time. Once someone posts your Incarnate on the internet somewhere (that is: roughly 30 seconds after you publish the Incarnate),...

Re: Matrix RPG?

I think if you were developing a Matrix-based RPG setting, you'd fudge it by having there be multiple different factions, none of which have full control over the Matrix because Technobabble. Different groups of machines fighting each other over whether to keep the humans in the Matrix, or kill them...

Re: D&D, multiple attacks, and an alternative

One AoO a around sucks dick if it's your only way of doing area control, but there's no reason that needs to be the case. When a Wizard doesn't want people to go somewhere, he can just plop down a wall of stone or some shit and have done. Martial are control looks like "roll a bunch of opportun...

Re: [3.X/PF] Good non den homebrew

Yeah, I was banned for saying that "the things you can make as traps depend on what the PCs in the party are" was nonsense (the whole school of argument in that thread is the most obnoxiously dumb thing in the world). I also accumulated warnings for such things as "mentioning Thor as ...
