The languages seem kinda expensive. I mean, my girlfriend, who can get by in Japanese and Spanish apparently had a ratings 3 language. Which is apparently equivalent to access to the the FBI fingerprint database, a nuclear weapon, or the ability to call on the national guard. I understand not wantin...

Also, new languages seem really, stupidly expensive, and overall not worth a merit. I'm not sure what an appropriate cost would be, but a Merit seems too much.

So in working characters for Hunted in Pittsburgh, I've gotten a request by a player for more flaws and merits, as he thought that section was a little thin. He argued this: Mainly I'd say that flaws should be fleshed out and divided into categories of mental/social/physical just like merits, and th...

aWoD: Hunted in Pittsburgh

This is the general thread for my aWoD game. Unlike most run so far, this one is actually starting with Luminary PCs. Just as a note, these characters are so-far unfinished, and I realize that. Character Name: Alexis Livingston Played by: Jenni Concept: Altruistic nurse Alexis Livingston Luminary At...

As someone who's working on a sci-fi setting with different races, this is really fascinating to me. Frank, do you think we could get an explanation on different types of biological nutrients, where they can come from (both in D&D-land and in modern/advanced worlds)? I've been researching this s...

So, clubs. I don't think I can hack them this semester since my schedule doesn't have enough free time and two of my classes are very difficult for me (theater since 18th century and introduction to computer engineering), but I do want to join some and get some socialization outside of projects and...

There's some crap to help you like the fact that Tyrptophan kind of looks like a "W" from the side. That explains so much, and actually helps. Nut up and write 20 cards. I actually have 60 already made - one set with the name, one set with the initial, and one with the structure. I was ju...

Studying Amino Acids

So I'm generally a pretty good student, especially when it comes to chemistry. I passed with an A in OChem 1&2, and feel pretty confident about myself. Until I got to BioChemistry. Apparently, I have one week to learn the names, structures, pKa, short-names, and single-letter abbreviation of all...

There is really very little purpose in producing marking effects that you layer rider effects on. I think 4e's purpose on having the riders tied to marks is that marks don't overlap. That way, you can't have two fighters mark a guy, and then have one guaranteed to get a bonus attack in if they flan...

I don't like the idea of segregating by armour type. Fullplate guy is ass on a stealth mission and ass without his armour. People should be able to play wearing different pants sometimes without sucking. I'll partially agree here. To be fair, the only one that NEEDS to be segregated by armor type I...

Also, I totally didn't mention WHY I think modular design is good. I hope it's clear what I mean by it, though - basically, stuff you can snap on to existing classes easily, without having to write an entirely new class. If for the Barbarian class you get to pick a "Totem" that lets you do...

Bumping this because I like this idea, and had been thinking similiar things class-wise. Iron Heroes, while really a shitty system in some ways, ought to be looked at for inspiration - dividing fighters up into "really tough tank guy", "really ragey naked guy", and "really f...

I hadn't considered Mirror Pocket - thanks. I have a feeling that's going to do pretty much what the player wants, anyway. I've still got to get a good hold on which disciplines can do what. I had a good feeling that the idea would be problematic, but I could see some use in it.

I'm planning on running aWoD soon, and one of my players had asked about the Path of Conjuring, which can be found here: http://www.patman.org/wod/disciplines/wwpaths.asp . Any comments on if it would be a bad idea to adapt this, and if not, how to do so? It seems pretty damn open to me, which is on...

Actually, I believe cold damage is the most resisted energy type... but only barely. In any case, it's seriously not a big balance issue between those two types either way.

How exactly are Gym Leaders going to work in a game with multiple players? Do they each challenge each? Each person fields one pokemon or some-such? The Gym Leader calls in friends, or gets to act more often, or is just THAT high level? I now have an image of a party that's questing to be the new El...

If not per day, then what about per session?. As it is, the encounter where you go into the forest, catch some bug pokemon, battle your rival, get interrupted by a swarm of beedrills that you have to fight, and then thwart team rocket seems like it would be 2-3 sessions, if not more. It just seems l...

I'm a bit lost here... how is combat supposed to work again? Are you guys still working on the "Place a card face down on the table" idea? Are you going to have multiple pokemon out at once (which it seems like), or only one? If multiple, are you supposed to have one card for each pokemon?...

You're forgetting the ranger's Quarry, which adds another d6. Not a lot, but, yeah. But yes. Tempest fighters have a definite advantage at lower levels, but rangers quickly pick up the advantage at higher levels. By level 11, the ranger should be dealing more damage hands-down due to getting more at...

Literally every single 4e game I've played has had a melee ranger in it. It seems a pretty popular build for my group. Wisdom is definitely better for a melee ranger than dex, and it has nothing to do with Pit Fighter. All of your riders are wisdom based (dexterity is only for archer rangers), and t...

Ok, so I've given this some thought and heavy research (read: playing Star Fox Assault) and this is what I've come up with. First - vehicles intended to primarily interact with infantry are not my concern. Motorcycles, armored cars, and tanks will be treated separately. They can easily be statted up...
