Gx1080- I'm a rapid WM fan, so please allow me to anti-rant your rant. Deathjack = awesome. Let's, for a moment, consider what awesome is. Awesome is that which makes you smile and your opponent cry. Since you are crying about the Deathjack, I assume you do not play cryx. Also, it isn't an arc node ...

I think Savage Worlds will handle the powers quite well. Powers are generally treated as spells, spells are powered by regnerating spell points. Spells are broken into tiers so you have to advance in experience before being allowed to buy the better powers, and they don't really have powers like tel...

What I enjoyed about 4th ed was the first few levels. Our group swapped characters a bit and the new powers that you gained were meaningful. There were fun choices about when to throw down dailies, when to use action points. With good pacing you had 3 "days" of adventuring each level usual...

I think the correct balance is not 1 tank beats 2 DPS, but rather 1 tank can survive 2 DPS long your DPS ally to kill one of their DPS. The balance here should be on the damage output of the tank being LOW. In a best case scenario the tank survives long enough to deal out say 50-60% health damage to...

I like Savage Worlds for a flexible framework that handles RPG lite and can grow to a battle with maybe a couple dozen models on each side.

It isn't really going to give you 30 round duels between master swordsmen, but it can go from fantasy to cyberpunk, superhero's or spellcasters.

I like the idea of a world of the physical, a world of the magical, and a world of the digital. I don't want to call technomancers magical because then you might get weird cross-over physical-mage-hacker-techno Night-one immortal elves with delta-grade bioware. Total BS. And I promise you some kid s...

I'd like to see some sample heroes - how do you envision this working in a modern world? Like, say, supernatural where all the hunters are also thieves? Do you clean up the loot from the monsters you slay? Buffy, where you have a watcher who has some cash and a nice place for you to crash if you ne...

BB. The only way to play BB is with a turn clock. 3 minutes and you are out of there. You get 2 minutes of safe actions then you HAVE to go pick up the ball and make that pass, otherwise you are doomed. Stop counting those squares and move a model, no take backs. As far as balance - one side gets ch...

@PL- Like I said, theory machine is awesome for analyzing small parts of the game. It falls down looking at an entire game. Where it rocks is where you can say things like: Unit X + Spell Y + Position Z >> (many things) SO, you take Unit X1 and Abilitiesl Y1 and attempt to achieve position Z1. When ...

I'm saying that THIS game rewards aggression. To emphasize this they've crafted scenarios where you LOOSE if you don't have models in the middle of the board by turn 2. You also loose if your general dies. THe outcomes are generally: 1) One player doesn't commit enough models to the scenario objecti...

Burrow list. Done. To be the primary unit you can't be playing a hold ground mission, because obviously a burrow unit doesn't hold ground. so at a steamroller it's an alt list to be used on the caster kill scenario ONLY. So - here's the list. Epic Deneghra, some pistol wraiths, and helldivers. Toss ...

Played W40k from 1999 to 2005 about 3 nights a month. Played WM from release (2003) until today. Less in the beginning, more as the game took off, even more as I dropped 40k for the piece of shit model selling factory that it is. From the platonic ideal of wargames, WM (and Hordes) leaves a lot to b...

Shadowrun after the bomb

Post apocalyptic shadowrun always appealed to me. In fact, most post apocalyptic settings appeal to me. Must be from growing up in the 80's. I've got a new campaign to run and I'm putting it in shadowrun world after the bomb. After lots of bombs in fact. I'm thinking lower powered shadowrun, that fi...

The other class I like is the deep warden. Some wacky dwarven ranger / fighter build that lets you put CON to your AC instead of Dex but it's a d12 HD class with ranger skills and full BAB. When do you get (have) to make a Hide check? When do you get (have) to make a Spot check? It's not clear from the SRD, but the logical conclusion is that whenever you perform an action that can include a hide check, you can make one. If you choose not to, you cease to be hiding. Similarly, any time...
