I have enormous levels of affection for the six-stat system too, despite all the flaws that it does have in its current execution. This is largely because DnD was my first tabletop RPG, and thus, all future RPG experiences are measured by it. It is likely that PR and Maj feel this way for similar re...

No feats, but Magic of Faerun has a class called the mystic wanderer that gives you full casting and a familiar.

Mine comes from the Marvel comic character, mostly inspired by a certain picture of the guy. I just decided to take it up one time, and started using it. An odd side effect of this: One other forum member (not on TGD, last I heard) named AfterCrescent and I are quite close, and hence end up using ni...

Frank, have I mentioned you're awesome?

I would also like to add that Lago is arguing apples-and-oranges with his 'cigarettes' statement, because these are marketed using psychology-derived techniques which honestly do not exist in any kind of lolicon anime or manga. Seriously, just no.

The thing is, Japanese 20 year old women REALLY do look like kids. I joke that a Japanese 20 year old looks like a Western 15 year old, whereas a Japanese 15 year old looks like a Western 10 year old. And I'm not even slightly kidding here - basically the entire damn adult population of my age in Ja...

'Mainstream' anime IN JAPAN (which is the only thing I count as being mainstream to begin with, because it's a subculture elsewhere) certainly doesn't cater to loli. At all.

Personally, I like having the discretion of how I allocate my power with psionics. Sometimes you don't need to spend full cost some something, which means you can further extend your longevity. Or if you don't have a high lvl power that fits your current need, you simply brute force a lower level o...

Owning one combat and sucking through the rest is not fun. Additionally, spell/power points lock you into the 4 encounters/day metric pretty darn hard.

Well, WotC's gamble with 3E was to become the industry standard, and, in a way, they succeeded. However, one of the side effects is that people will compare their latest stuff to 3E, which is one reason why we can see that 4E is crap.

Lots of people are still playing with or working on stuff for 3e. And right they are, too, because converting to 4E is honestly a step back.

Not an American here, but I would like to chime in that, while gun ownership for self-defense is something I consider logical or sensible, I would like to own a gun (but no ammo), just so I can look at it and hold it, because I think many guns are works of very cool workmanship. But then again, I li...

[Class] The Binder, Tome-style

This is a co-operative effort between me and ubernoob, with some contributions from Bigode. It isn't finished as-yet, though. This is designed as a fix for the binder in ToM, to bring it up to Tome standards. It assumes full use of the rules in the Tomes, including feats and item rules. The Binder B...

Agreed on these points. Having done some thinking on the binder, I will likely post some stuff on him in a separate thread for critique. Could someone remind me of the level 10 Same Game Test?

Drawing on Frank's ideas for a campaign I'm planning

So here's the thing. While I was busy lurking on TGD, like I do often, I saw this little gem in one of Frank's posts. D&D would be a better game if the available classes were Shadowcaster, Binder, Totemist, Warlock, and Warblade. It would be better still if those classes were made in such a mann...

First of all, love this and fully plan to use it later.

Secondly, what kind of benchmarks do you guys use for 'level-appropriate' abilities? I can't say I know them too well, and some kind of list would be nice, so that I might be able to write some paths for this here fix or something.
