Is that a typo for "cattlepunk," or is there some sort of tea-centric sub-genre that I suddenly want to know more about?Koumei wrote:I'm familiar with cyberpunk, gothpunk, steampunk, kettlepunk, coalpunk, biopunk, stonepunk, punkpunk and laserpunk, but that one's new to me.

There are really only three threads that you need to care about here. Those three will get you roughly 95% of the material you're looking for. First, you want to check out the EOTM rules. Rules that specifically relate to chargen are at the bottom of the first page. Second, you want to check out the...

And I didn't find it on Lokathor's Free RPG Blog, so... is it lost to the Internet? It's certainly not lost; I have multiple versions of it on my machine at home. I'll put up some temporary links tonight until a more long-term solution can be put in place. EDIT: Updated below. Lokathor's Versions T...

On an unrelated note, is the Viper Slivergun the best reason to use pistols? It has... ludicrous damage, a gigantic ammo cap and a built in suppressor for 5R and 500 nuyen. It is if you're using flechette. The only downside to that pistol (if memory serves) is that it ONLY fires custom rounds that ...

I was originally going to argue that having a triangular progression for damage but a linear progression for healing didn't make sense, but it occurred to me that they don't necessarily have to be related. It makes sense that you'd want a triangular progression for magical healing and subsequent dra...

Makes sense. Any thoughts on Medic/Recovery programs, and how the removal of damage would work with LMSI? Inflicting it is pretty straightforward, although our group hasn't tested it yet in combination with the alt.War-style mechanics. In the interest of proposing my own solution, here's what we're ...

So I was wondering what changes would be required to convert EOTM to alt.War-style mechanics. Since I'm hoping to get Frank to notice and weigh in officially, I'll do a good faith effort to account for the issues I can see with solutions of my own. Hopefully I'm not too far off base. In no particula...

I realize it's been almost a year since anyone posted to this thread, but I actually only stumbled upon it recently. Couple of things: Frank, this is really great stuff. I know it didn't end well from your perspective (or at least so I gather from your comments), but this was a huge help to some of ...

But monsters prevent a way more troubling issue. If the majority of monsters (even the ones in the actual bestiary) are built like PCs, then MCs having to consistently and simultaneously micromanage rotating rosters of what are essentially PC-complexity monsters, then that might actually make Legen...

Re: The full buy in thing. I think what the magic item rules represent is how many magic items you can actually bind, not how many you find. So a character can find an artifact at level 1, but couldn't bind it until level 17. Or a high level character could have 20 lesser magic items, but only have...

At 18th level, you can still use A Stitch in Time as an immediate action, which means that you can effectively use it as a swift action as well. Which means the blender is good to go. Looks legit. At 18th, between the tracks and the relic you'd have either: 1xStandard, 1xMove, 5xFree, 3xSwift OR 1x...

Speaking of elven ragers, tell me if this works: I don't think so? There are five types of actions. In any given [Round], a creature has one each of a standard action and move action, either a swift action or an immediate action, and up to five free actions. I think you have too many actions [quote...

Well, I did say I expected to get some things wrong. I'll own up to it when I do. So, what I can now say I clearly got wrong : The whole KOM/KDM mechanic actually seems to work as I suspect the designers wanted it to. From a realist/simulationist/whatever perspective, that's weird (if anyone cares)....

This is very off-the-cuff, but here's my initial impressions. In many ways it's Tome from the bizarro-world. What I mean by that is that instead of baselining PC power levels at magic-user levels and trying to bootstrap the beatsticks up , they're trying to baseline PC power levels at beatstick leve...

If you're looking for the Tome material in it's (semi)entirety, the two best sources I know of are Lokathor's page and the Awesometome page. There's some differences between the versions, but I couldn't tell you exactly what or why. I'm sure there's plenty of folks here who are more than conversant ...

Re: [SR4] The Sharpshooter's Way
So here we are, a new quality, some new adept powers, and metamagics supporting the concept. I figure this forum is familiar with Shadowrun as any, and is more likely to give me a harsh critique of what's here. Though any ideas for additions would also be welcome. First, what Frank said. Second, if...

My question is particularly for Frank, since Ends/brainhacking is his baby, but I'd welcome insight from other Denizens. When you consider balancing physical/magical/matrix attacks in light of Blackhammering your mom, doesn't the hacker seem to have something of an insurmountable advantage? When the...
