I've been struggling over this one for a while. Trying to think how to say something sorta simple in an interesting way... and I don't think I found it... Purse Fondling I don't like unlimited imaginary money credit being an on character sheet thing for most of my fantasy games. I made the LT curren...

Maybe you've just never seen the true extremes of a pack rat player. One day you just glance over and realize they've been just casually carrying around a shipping container worth of heavy metal armaments and 12,000 balls of string and enough furniture for a small palace in their 3 pages of individu...

I'm sorry but this is basically nonsense, especially the choice and repeated use of "embedded" as jargon utterly unrelated to the plain meaning of the word, and then having it change in meaning to suit whatever you are saying as you progress. You seem to have just now "discovered"...

Well the problem with attributes isn't that classes make them redundant. It's that basically everything makes them redundant. Why have an attribute score that works like 3.x D&D and only exists to derive a bonus? Why not just have a bonus? If your Strength is mostly just a source for a damage bo...

I think the ideal for a tacked on crafting system is... People who know how to use the thing, know how to make the thing. Making the thing isn't meaningfully cheaper or better for game mechanical benefits. But it might get you the exact specific thing you wanted instead of a near match or random alt...

What is a Fortune? Well this is slightly awkward. And not because I think I know better on your term selection, I mean, of course I do, looking at where you seem to be going I would have gone with "Cash" and "Capital" instead of 'Fortune" and "Wealth". But just mo...

I think it's been a day or two and I could roll out something else wealth related I'd like to talk about. Wealth vs Prices Here's a problem with wealth. Haggling. When you give out XP currency people don't argue for a discount to their next level. Much. When you give out Coins as a currency people w...

So to be clear. Your plan is to do something that is mechanically the same as, except for where it is objectively strictly inferior to, rolling on encounter tables. Only its Tarot. Only it's not because it doesn't really work like that, nor do you really particularly seem to care for the whole tarot...

I think many games would benefit from having this handled by XP. That's not automatically a problem, but in most cases it would be. In the case of characters being 75% gear it would be more likely to be a problem. If you buy certain parts of your character with XP and certain parts with Wealth and ...

A title may as well be a skill, a skill might as well be an item, you can apply the same availability limit methods of distributing them. So "Find", "Buy", "Craft" or equivalents, the "find" equivalent is the GM telling you it drops from a defeated hydra, this...

Reading that I'm seeing less of a direct discussion of a wealth mechanic and more a discussion of Downtime Mechanics. So as far as I read your thing there's a list of things that happen during "normal play" the thing everyone has agreed to come to the game for. Then there is this list of &...

See I think one problem for wealth is exactly that weird perception that the DM is "giving" players 8,000,000,000 Macaroni Cents and a Sword of Several Cats. It's not so much that it is an entirely inaccurate perception it's more that it's odd that there isn't a matching perception that th...

However though the vengeful ghost of D20Modern makes me fear that if I could be bothered looking it up it would be a trainwreck in actual practice.
