Yay, someone listened to me! The original SAME system is under Four Stat by the way.

What is a Badge bonus? It isn't labeled anywhere. Also, the character should probably be able to choose their items and/or have the items have inherent abilities as well.

I like everything in there except for the Ability Tier Drain. It seems completely against what you stated it to be for. Taking a penalty for bigger attacks makes swinging with your piddly shit better unless you know the big guns will take the enemy down. If you want attacks to leave people open, the...

0/10 PR. It's good to switch up your style every once in awhile, but when "Twilight Sucks" for example is a few threads down, it kind of kills any point you may have.

So long and thanks for all the flames. Don't come back round y'hear!

Spirit Guide: The Spirit Shaman has a spirit guide, some kind of freaky critter that guides them from the Ethereal plane. The spirit guide has the form of a monster with a CR equal to the spirit shaman's level, but always has an Intelligence equal to the spirit shaman's Wisdom and has the same alig...

The equivalency test would be the best idea methinks, because to be honest Roy, all your original idea will amount to is trolling and more Paizil butthurt. If we're being objective here and trying to make a point other than "lol i troll u". then that's the completely bassackwards way to do...

Nah, WotC 3.5 is like a fruit salad with a great deal of nuts.
Pathfinder is that same fruit salad, only the fruit has been laying out in the dumpster for a few weeks.

I like that a lot actually, although I still think the item power should just be on the item by itself.

Also, how are we going to set up the attack unlocking? I was thinking of a ladder setup of equivalencies: 2 normals = 1 special, 2 specials = 1 super.

I'm not sure we should have role combos that have the downside of taking a long time to win. Gradual, inevitable victory makes sense in the real world but in a game things need to be over fast, generally in the players' favour. We also shouldn't have roles that are "I make people hit me" ...

No, no tying of stats to abilities. That's wrong for organic characters, and bad for the game. What if someone wants to make a fat character that bounces through a crowd? Your ability is suddenly locking them out, and a new ability needs to be made to accomodate fat, or smart, or wise or forceful o...

If the defensive powers are interesting and useful, and the attacker isn't complete rape in a can, forcing options shouldn't be necessary. If we're going against the 4e setup, we want tanks and defenders to do things other than piddly shit. A total defense character should be as useful in situations...

Do we really care about the granularity of how people get their abilities off if we're working for broad categories? For instance, if we have a swordy guy have his weapons confiscated, but he picks up a sturdy stick to use as a sword, shouldn't we just let him fight with that and his abilities? He'd...

Okay, cool. So, for example, we have a [Melee] tag, a [Range] tag, a [Stealth] tag, and a [Magic] tag. If you get say, 4 ability slots at start, 2 [Melee] gets you Warrior, 2 [Range] gets you Archer, 2 [Stealth] gets you Rogue, and 2 [Magic] gets you Mage. Second tier: Warrior/Mage = Eldrich Knight,...

J_E and Maxus bring up an important point: how granular do we want our tags to be? Do we want to have tags for every weapon, just weapon style (Simple, 1hand, 2hand, Exotic), former class, etc? Going with the "inverse of 4e" idea, would they be as broad as possible (to remove the incredibl...

Couldn't we have people just use their abilities in clever ways to solve puzzles/overcome obstacles? Granted, there are going to be cases when a logic puzzle is a great idea, but would we or should we do that for every sort of challenge? Also, I'll try and hack this into SAME. Basic outline forthcom...

You could have a number of slots available for the player to hold their abilities as well as a "Rule of Threes" for maximum amount of bullshit templates. Or, the package system actually works as the superstructure for the abilities. For example: Warrior Archetype Form: Get good at using we...

Well, a form of Aid Another based off of relevant skills could work: combining the party's abilities like Voltron. Say, you're trying to glean information at a swanky party, fit in to get closer to the corrupt king. -The Fighter blends in and watches the crowd (Spot/Search/Survival) -The Rogue mingl...

The Dark Companion alternate class feature I think you're shooting for. And yeah, having a Tung Fu Rue style hulkout would be a nice fit for that empty 13th level.

I was actually thinking of having the Spirit Companion being a tangible thing that the character decided on as they made their character (like the Complete Divine version), but wanted to get the mechanics down first and couldn't think of anything stat-wis...

This is my first class ever, so rip it to shreds. They work with spirits great and small, the incorporeal spark of life within all things. From pa...

Wings of Flurry could work for Tibetan Butterfly Technique. Uncapped force damage and you could slap a pushback effect on it.

Maelstrom of Firey Ki and Arcane Strategist are awesome as usual. What constitutes a great victory though, for the Arcane Strategist's later abilities?

True, true, but I'm trying to stay "hip" and "down", or whatever the kids call it these days. That, and the bulk of my current experience has it in common parlance on every board.

I'll come back with something soon on this.
