The main problem I always saw with alignment was trying to fit one of 9. If you don't think of it as 9, but two parts of a whole, then the problem goes away. There is no difference at all between a 2-part-alignment and two 1-part-alignments. Lets break out the math for people. The 9 alignments have...

Are you Chaotic? Yes Are you Good? No, I became Neutral. It isn't brain surgery, or rocket science. Either you are Lawful, Chaotic, or in-between. ALSO, either you are Good, Evil, or In-between. They NEVER have to cross each other in order to function. Chaos is not the opposite of good, and is not ...

I think all alignment needs is the 2 axis system. Law/Chaos Good/Evil You start on one side or in between for both axis. There isn't really a need to make out the 9 combinations of it. Just each thing that is so big where alignment would need to be looked at checks whether you are moving closer to ...

Unless it is too late, and this thread too old that was necro'd, I will throw my hat in the ring. (Hopefully I haven't already posted this here.) I think all alignment needs is the 2 axis system. So not even John Doe that got some freebie at a con of a new product, and goes home and blogs about isn't really that bothersome even if they blog on a bigger site related to our niche industry, and wouldn't have to be bothered by declaring they were given a gift as to the reason of the blog entry, ...

I don't think the RPG corporate community has enough money to hand out freebies for good reviews. We don't exactly have a well known and openly broadcasted center for RPG related stuff. Really? By well known, you mean to the mas media and entire consumer market as we are in a niche hobby...

Again my apologies to all for the lack of continued review, but I have some energy and a clear mind right now and will continue with the next page down below full screen header to where the content begins. On the left we actually have content. News and articles, in a nearly full page column Beside t...

I actually played in a 2E campaign that took that approach to magic items. There were two types of magic treasure we would find: generic, but weak items which we would occasionally find (like a Ring of Protection +1) and the rare super-badass weapon/armor/staff (like a minor artifact) that would be...

The new design is NOT backwards compatible with IE 6. Thjat is all I can offer now, as flu hitting worse. Still trying and slowly handwriting down thought to compile a good typed review for all. So viewing the new site from work with IE6 will likely be unpleasant for people like yourself clikml. Not...

Sadly it isn't just the new WotC site because many more are following the social networking method of ADD/ADHD design for people that cannot focus, rather than giving information that can be focused with enough proper breakups to make reading the content and viewing the page less monotonous. I am st...

Even if not a gem or actual item embedded within the sword, Sting still have something put into the natural elements that made it to cause it to be magical. It is a change of flavor really, but something that can have more concise mechanical balance if you can get past the wonky flavor. So your gam...

To me, that site is too cluttered. Whenever I'm browsing, if I encounter a site like that that I don't have to be in, I tend to just leave. That much clutter overwhelms me and I tend to just shut down. If I went in looking for something in particular, I'm likely to hit CTRL + F to 'find' a keyword ...

Re: Welcome ot the NEW D&D website - review
~Good stuff~ I type so that I can read it. Not everyone is blessed with two working eyes. Socketed items were things like gems, runes, and skulls that can be placed into a compartment of your armor/shield/weapon/boots/hat/belt; doing so provided a bonus to your character (such as increasing your health or manna, granting your weapon the lifestealing property, or a whole assload of other...

Re: The Core of Magic Item Design
Diablo II is a great game, but literally every single thing it does with magic items is bad for a table top role playing game. Can anyone elaborate on this for me? I can imagine a few things, like the obvious "paying for magic items" but what else? And why are they so bad? Lets see... som...

If you can ever figure out how to explain balance to anyone in gaming, then let me know. I have tried even explaining to Peter LEe, that when making things you cannot use the Magic the Gathering approach. While I understand your concept, not the game; I think MtG is a good source for the wrong way t...
