RC, it looks like you actually do want to re-write large sections of the rules, and then run through the entire spell list (which is immense) and tag everything with whether it is a buff or not. That is more work than the suggestion of just giving people the various number buffs as by level abilitie...

Personally I think that the inevitables are a bunch of obnoxious jerks, I mean come on some of them 'enforce' the law that everyone has to die.
