Not saying you are incorrect at all, but I am wondering where you gathered this information. Please share?

So is there and Hardcover book of this or only an pdf? Edit: I did try to Google it, but only found old Editions... Looks like you can get the PDF (and lulz errata already) from the https://www.worldofdarkness.com/v5 site. And if you really want the hardcover you can order it at https://www.modiphi...

So now that this is actually out, has anyone looked over the mechanics yet? Trying to decide if I want to take a peek at the PDF or not.

It's a beautiful model - let D&D blaze a trail and fail. Then follow that trail and make sure you do it at least as well or better. They've decided not to be the innovator, just to emulate and 'improve'. A vast amount of the most successful companies in the world today employ this same strategy.

The accused: whoever was making this kind of decision at TSR. The accomplice: Gary Gygax, for writing this prime example of hack RPG creation. I don't know enough about the situation at TSR circa 1980 to make a call as who exactly is to blame. Maybe Gary had to crank this thing out under an insanel...

He has blackmail material on most of the Hasbro upper management.

He has to. I refuse to believe otherwise.

Rolemaster using the Arms Law (and zero magic, lol imbalance) can get to the level of detail of which you speak, but it bogs down heavily, with players constantly moving. Most of the fights I played through using that system very much like a simulation of actual melee combat, with opponents circling...

I spent the best part of the last hour skimming through the various playtest threads on the Wizards forum... I have no idea how a design team is going to sift through all that feedback and commentary in order to eliminate major issues and institute any useful changes. I know there is supposed to be...

Paladin: No one actually gives a shit about the Paladin, people are perfectly fine playing a Cleric instead, and the Paladin can show up in the supplements, where it belongs. That's also the best place to put him and all his Paladin Code nonsense and alignment bullshit. Fighter: Suck a dick. People...

Giant in the Playground has a wee bit more of a following than the Tomes. GitP was also doing a kickstarter to reprint books people had been asking for for years. Almost every single donation was actually more or less a pre-order for a book/game/pdf. It was literally thousands of people who had bee...

"Great writers" by way of comparison to SKR, at least. That's a list that isn't too difficult to get onto, and probably even includes my 8 year old.

MMOs, on the other hand, require you to do something noteworthy in order for the world (the community of other players) to notice you and care. Going on quests and killing shit in that context isn't the point, it's a means to an end--sort of like going to your job. The face-stabbing can be entertai...

The sentence that I'm skeptical about is this: "The game is filled with things that the DM can do better than the rules, and the rules can do better than the DM." While it's true, it's also clear to me that Monte overestimates the amount of good rulings that the average DM can make up on ...

What happens if you try it anyways? What happens if you try to drop a carton of milk that you aren't holding? Is this some sort of zen shit? With the "prepared spells" setup, there is no "try to cast it anyway". It's not even a parseable question. Casting a spell is "activa...
