@login L5R wiki agrees with you, and I'm not looking deeper: Goju was earlier. Even so, that still says that everyone with the "ninja" tag is either a minion of the Nothing, or traces their training directly to someone who was. Matsu Hiroru is (maybe) an exception, but he has an especially...

Anywhere you'd like to have a reaper diaklave, you'd rather have a pair of short diaklaves for the same cost. But you'd probably more rather have switchklaves or tiger claws. I wouldn't fault you for taking the Khatar though, and sundering all your opponents' gear, or the chakram to counter flurryin...

"Stop the sneaky guy from hitting me" is a cheap (2m) scene-length charm. Hitting you back just takes six guys attacking you, or one guy coordinating three others. Going back into stealth keeps them from targetibg you, but just fireball the area you were in instead. It's shockingly cheap t...

Buster swords are not actually a great option. They are good for killing things that you were going to kill no matter what anyway. Any edge case where their strengths are an asset is a case where you would rather have a dire maul anyway. (There are some exceptions, but those are bullshit artifacts t...

Yeah. One of the games I've been playing ended with me (Infernal Scourge) singlehandedly 'liberating' Lookshy from the dragonblooded tyrany, by virtue of me being faster than a horse, invisible (and untraceable) and capable of running up walls. I basically kited the entire army. Why didn't they jus...

If I recall right, the change to "Utaku" wasn't until about when WotC sold it back. It might have been been in spirit wars, but not much earlier.

And yes, the explanation was SUPER contrived.

It should really only take one roll to successfully scout or infiltrate a camp or small complex. Maybe 3 to 4 for a big superspy set-piece with escalating stakes and escalating difficulties where the PCs have multiple opportunities to fold and take the info they got so far or press on for more. You...

Either they should have made Shadowlands playable or they should have had tournaments trigger Shadowlands events when other people won, I should think. Maybe whoever wound up dead last had something terrible and Shadowlands-related happen to them. Like what happened to Crab but triggered by losing ...

Crane spent a while winning by killing everyone in the face with duels, and so do need that sword. That was around 2007. Poetry composition stopped being viable when Gold edition screwed up the lobbying rules, in 2002ish. Lion won several tournaments very early on, largely because they went first, a...

FantasyCraft does better at reining in the crazy high-end stuff, and provides a decently playable game throughout, and has a decent swag at a social minigame. It's harder to make an overpowered or underpowered character by accident . It also mechanically demands that you consider some of your table ...

last doc I saw said I was a "poor candidate" for surgery and I have no idea what he meant for that In the future, ask. If you don't get an explanation that you understand , strongly consider getting a different doc. You're essentially paying a general practitioner to tell you about his (e...

Because we care about the parts that are most interesting to characters, not to historians. For the first w...
