Re: What is it about "Low Magic?"

In low magic, the heroes typically aren't superhuman. I mean there are rare occasions, like Hercules and such, but most of the time, you're talking about fairly mundane, though highly skilled, humans. [br][br]Then skills themselves have to do something. And they have to do badass things by just sit...

Re: Idea for a new Campiagn Setting: Dead Man's Hand

I like the idea of all PCs being spellcasters. By definition, then, that's why they're the heroes. You just have to figure out enough variants that the PCs don't end up being all samey and junk. Some suggestions:[br][br] [br] Wizard: Book learnin' magician. From the East.[br] Voodoun: Ritual magic m...

Re: On Fighting Men, Mages, and Game Flavor.

No, you shouldn't.[br][br]Instead, your campaigns should just end at whatever level you think the power curve extends too far. When a campaign ends at level 20, that's as completely arbitrary as ending it at level 5. Just because the charts all go that high doesn't mean you have to play that high. I...

If the rules don't say you can't do something, you can.

"I can make chickens into killer cyborgs!"
"When I cry, my teardrops are liquid gold!"
"I can hit you in the eye with my pee from 6 miles away!"

Yeah, that manifesto makes no sense.

Punching bad thoughts, ofcourse, is not something you do with strength. As I'm sure you know.

What the bloody hell?

The newer editions of D&D are not broken. but they are excedingly more complex.

Has this guy ever actually read the 1E DMG? What was it Cecil called it? "All the joys of double-entry accounting with none of that boring 'fun' stuff thrown in"?

You could do the same with chess. [br][br]Yes, exactly, and that would be easy. Real quick:[br] If your modeling for advantage in game, your being exploitative. [br]Seriously, why else would you even bother to model except for tactical advantage? Haven't seen new spycraft yet. What does it do that's good? [br][br][*] Monsters are parts: There's a big list of special abilities that can be given to an NPC.
