We are still playing 3.5... so not nostalgic Precisely. If 3.0 was so super duper, why did you all switched to 3.5 and why did 3.5 last much longer seeing a lot more material? I never bothered switching to 3.5. I house-ruled in things that my players liked from 3.5 and wanted, this was pretty commo...

Re: African, Arabic, Chinese, other cultural settings and le

well, islamic myth isn't the arab world I'd want to play in anyway, I'd much rather play in pre-islamic arabia. They can keep muhammed faceless and threaten danish cartoonists, I want my djnn and desert demons. That's not pre-Islamic. Not exclusively anyway, Jinn are mentioned in the Quran and are ...

I second the wiki idea. You can toss one up for your setting on the thecbg.org if you need a space for it, having the information up for your players to read through at their leisure is pretty nifty. Otherwise I run it like Dogbert. I show everyone the setting map before chargen and feed information...

That reminds me... I had a friend become Mormon years ago. I attended his baptism, along with the family he was marrying into and on the way there one of them told me that I'd likely get a few people who will try to talk to me and proselytize, just a heads up sort of thing. Not a single person said ...

Video games are for power fantasies. I play D&D because I like simulating worlds in my mind. But then I'm pretty much exclusively a GM.

Old-timey covers of contemporary songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXYWDtXbBB0 I love this, by the way. Thank you. Surprisingly, Ess totally dove into it, too. He sings these versions of the songs ALL the time. He even loaded the videos onto his Kindle Fire so he can make sure that they are alw...

Sometimes semantic differences denote real differences. This is not the case with the semantic bullshit that Christian sects babble out to simultaneously claim that they only have one god and that their temples are filled with saints and angels and shit. In this case it really is just simple hypocr...

I never finish anything in Minecraft

Post your unfinished Minecraft shit here (or finished, if you want). I always start out with an idea or some inspiration, work on it for a while, have the project get bigger and bigger until I hit a point where it's so big that I don't know what else to do with it and abandon it. I wanted a Tavern o...

Yay after months of lurking I've finally got something relevant to post in. I'd recommend The Secret World if you're looking for an MMORPG that isn't a WoW clone. Class-less systems and a pretty awesome modern horror/fantasy setting, with a dev team that actually gasp supports roleplayers, a...

Look, I'm not saying that it's wrong to say the D&D cleric has some Christian influence. But if it had been made in some other country by people who never saw a cross or a church, heard about the Bible, or had any Christian influence, it is conceivable that the D&D cleric would be 95% ident...

"Even Islam, which some students of Arab affairs cite as the most formidable single barrier to the westernization of Arab existence, is basically but an affirmation of Christianity and Judaism-- or, at least, of such versions thereof as Muhammed knew."
