Re: a report from behind the lines

This mostly just suggests that whoever was managing you and Semerkhet was not doing their job. By the time the proofreaders are going over the laid-out PDFs, the authors are not consulted for every change (in my experience, they are rarely consulted at all -- only if they are needed to help solve a...

An artist I know who did some work for CGL refereed to Randall as "A joke who seemed like he was delivering pizzas yesterday and has no idea how to do the job he's been handed today". Randall hired Jason. I haven't worked with Jason Hardy long enough to make any judgments about skill. I c...

Re: a report from behind the lines

I've belatedly realized that, since I am now involved in the process, it is unprofessional to speculate publicly on that process. I will continue to try to effect positive change from the inside, as much as a toe in the door can be said to be "inside."

I played and GM'd a lot of Earthdawn back in '94-'97 timeframe. I loved the game. I pretty much echo AH's sentiments in regard to the richness of the setting. I was given the 3rd edition GM guide for Xmas and it seems as though the Step system was rationalized a little bit, getting rid of d4s and d2...

a report from behind the lines

I recently signed on to do some proofreading for CGL and, as it happens, The Untethered Life was the first chapter I got to dig into. I'm going to assume that since the book is out now I'm no longer bound strictly by the NDA. Here are a few thoughts and factoids: -The changes suggested for this chap...

As far as I can tell no proofreading has occurred since the start of the trouble at CGL. 6WA only has one credited proofreader that proofed anything else as far as I can tell, the rest are various freelancers and insiders. Lars is gone most tellingly. And War! has no credited proofreaders. Just as ...

Technically the Treaty of Denver put a stop to the threat of the various North American powers nuking each other - both with the real thing and with various magical knockoffs. It being unconditionally abrogated by a big penis NPC who doesn't follow the rules is very stupid , and puts incredible str...

Yeah, the suggestion to seduce Ghostwalker was totally in there. And yes, that got shot down. It's been a while since I bothered reading Jason's deliberations, but last I checked the plan was to center Spy Games around Denver, and have the main plotline be about the looming No Confidence vote in th...

Beware of posting here, Semerkhet. Posting here is like visiting a WH40K Chaos temple. It instantly converts you to a cultist. Oh noes, you're now a Cult of Frank follower. I can't wait to get my cultist hood so that I can be accused of coming here to giggle and smirk after posting on DS or the off...

What's not helpful is that the guys left at CGL do not admit that they produced a pile of manure. Some more "me bad, we'll do better now", and less "Frank is BAD! AH is bad! You're not getting the whole picture" apologist posts would restore some shred of confidence in their ski...

Who's worse: the douchebag, or those who defend him? Not helpful. It is not my intent to be an unthinking apologist for Mr. Pavao and I acknowledge Frank's contention that Mr. Pavao has been unhelpful in responding to critics. He totally dodged the issue on the ramifications of the Slow spell and h...

My problem with Aaron isn't that he has bad ideas. As you say, everyone has bad ideas. My problems are: He refuses to acknowledge that his idea was shitty, even after people have dragged it out into multiple pages of discussion pointing out all the ways it sucks ass. He is such a condescending assh...

OK, that is the Aaron I know. He said his Unwired work was perfect too. I genuinely think he is a victim of dunning-kruger. Seriously, he keeps writing rules, those rules keep being shit, and he keeps acting like his detractors are nutballs and jerks for not being able to see how awesome he is. Yea...

This must be one of those "unambiguous" statements that generate people asking on dumpshock and even here on this thread whether they got their license renewed. Which would seem to imply that there was a fair amount of ambiguity on that point. Not a prosecutable amount of ambiguity, but c...

Unfortunately, there's a very good chance that there would be a news blackout for several months while the new company tried to pry the rights to recently produced materials from a recalcitrant IMR. Weird negotiations of course, since IMR would be in full control of valuable materials... that they ...

A series of related questions: Any news on potential other bidders on the SR license? If Topps decides to drop IMR/CGL on May 16, does Topps announce they are soliciting bids/proposals for the licenses or what? Would Topps let the Battletech and Shadowrun licenses go to different companies? If anyon...
