Please, this thread isn't about bitching about RiftWar, it's about bitching about Pathfinder (and P2). So there's a new preview about archetypes. I sincerely think it's the worse preview they've made - that's quite an accomplishment. Archetypes are replaced with feat chains. Because some people thou...

I read that differently, the "they" referring to the barbarian, not the actions. IE, Barbarians get Rage Traits, like PF1 Rage Powers, and one allows them to take Concentrate actions. Oh, yes, this is another possible interpretation. In term of grammar, the preview uses the singular for &...

I like the way the preview seems to be written to convey as few information as possible. a barbarian can enter a rage that drastically increases her damage and grants her a significant booster shot of temporary Hit Points, in exchange for a –1 penalty to AC and the inability to use concentrate actio...

The last blog post is about downtime and crafting. In the Playtest, items have levels. You can craft items of your level or lower, and you must be skilled enough at crafting, reflected in your proficiency rank, to craft an item of that quality (trained for standard items, and expert, master, or lege...

That's not really very compelling. If the demons are doing Lockerbie Bombing crap instead of bringing countries to their knees with devastating sustained assaults, it's just because their actual goal is to make the news and nothing more than that. That's pathetic, actually. The demons described are...

In a "Catch RPG" I played: - finisher is available when the enemy drop to 33% hp (... more or less. It's available when his hp are "red"; there are "green" hp, "yellow" hp and "red" hp, and you decide how many of your hp are of each color. Since ther...

A major conceptual problem with stuff like this is that actual terrorists are mostly a bunch of fuckups. Timothy McVeigh and Stephen Paddock were actually kind of shitty people who weren't much good at most things in life. And yet, they obviously killed a shit tonne of people just by using reasonab...

So, wait, is 11 a 0% or 1/36 chance of success? Is 66 100%? 11 is a 1/36 chance of success, 66 is a 100% chance of success. This is a weird way of sorta doing 2D6, for which probabilities run 0,1,3,6,10,15,21,26,30,33,35,36 - /36 chance of failing. It's more like "sorta rolling 1d12". 13 ...

A "crime lord" with 4 minions total, whose house can be invaded by a level 1 party. "Crime lord" seems a bit exaggerated. And again, in the new edition, if the rule 1 ("thou shall not murder") and the rule 2 ("thou shall protect orphans") are in conflict, you ...

In the example I described in Curse of the Crisom Throne, the PC are invading the house of Mr X in their hometown . This is not the definition of murder; if you kill someone and justify it by "I didn't like his face" or "I really wanted his +1 sword", this is still a murder. This probably sounds like wisdom to you, but it is not. Killing someone because you don't like their face is actually M...

Slade wrote:So Thunderstones don't just deafen, now they deal sonic damage.

So thunderstone rock now, that is a positive.
Thunderstones deal damages that are 6 times too low to be useful - except if you're an alchemist. This is almost the same as "not dealing damages at all".

There's a preview about the alchemist. So he has the feat to craft alchemical items, and at level 19 he multiplies the damages of bombs by 6. Therefore, either he deal 6 times more damages than anyone else and he's completely unbalanced, either the bombs' damages are 6 times too low (and the alchemi...

When Mario's state changes because he is hit , and the number of hits can be tracked numerically, I think that's absolutely HP. Great. In Super Meat Boy (and many old game), when you're hit your state change from "alive" to "dead". It can be tracked numerically. Hence it's total...

Yes. Using an extensive definition of HP, you can prove that everything uses HP - not only video games. If I define HP as "something containing some information", even a glass of water has HP. Using any reasonable definition of HP, old Mario doesn't have HP. He has several states, and its ...

At least in 4e, there was the idea that you could only convert some actions into others. Standards to moves, yes, but not moves to standards. Action economy is one of the few things they got right in 4e. They understood a buff isn't worth as much as an attack, hence, many class may spend a quick ac...

Likewise, we get into these weird scenarios where we've got a low INT, low WIS fighter guy at the table, but the dude playing said fighter is clever, and is often helping solve puzzles the DM throws at us. There are no rules in DnD for handling this sort of thing where a player's out-of-game knowle...

Having the GM penalise people or reward people for being more into playing a certain way or not, really it's just a failure of the game mechanics to encourage the desired play as a normal optimal choice. Not like "describing your actions like that novel I read, only spontaneously, for hours&qu...
