Catholics allied with Hindus against the Muslims, claiming that the Hindus were a weird sort of Christian (I think Krishna helped with that or something) and that the Muslims were pagan. Real history is full of bizarre examples of people compromising their religious ideals to attain ostensibly relig...

What's the problem with metal detectors? That combined with a single starting resource pool seems to work pretty well for having viable 'badass normal' starting characters. As they get richer, they'll probably invest in some cybernetics, but they can also invest in military-grade weapons like power ...

I've been playing a low-level oracle in an on-and-off weekly game for a few months. I'm restricted mostly to core, and 5th level is an unpleasant place to be. Not having 3rd level spells hurts. Not having access to the entire cleric list hurts. But I expect that this is a minor bump. It'll never hav...

With writing like that, I can't honestly say I'm surprised they got dropped.

Watch out when using a spear in Pathfinder. Unlike 3e, it has openings:
So your enemies just have to move like bishops to avoid the AoO.

And here's another reason you can't play Centaurs, because what will they fly on? I mean, obviously than those epic airborne whales with the forest on top, but what about lower levels? Magic carpets. And, yeah, if you're going to have monster race-specific mounts, they should make sense. If bears c...

PL had some great suggestions. So does Frank. Don't come up with a list of minigames and then come up with a class for each minigame---Design each class to contribute in each minigame, ideally in different-seeming ways. Don't design the classes to be boring until level 5---figure out how you can mak...

Consider reducing the orisons to Create Water, Cure Minor Wounds, Dancing Lights, Detect Magic, Detect Poison, Know Direction, Mending, and Purify Food and Drink. The rest basically take up space without doing anything useful. Consider also dropping the Animal and Plant domains. You gain nothing of ...

It wouldn't work. They want the end times.Prak_Anima wrote:I now kind of want to troll anti-climate change fundies by claiming that ancient demons are imprisoned in the ice and we must do everything we can to stop the melting of the caps, lest Abramileth The Destroyer be let loose and bring the End Times.

No Antarctica? Surely there's some sort of magical goings-on there, even if there aren't many people. Probably a number of monsters can tolerate the cold better than humans can. Or perhaps there's also cold-specific monsters that you can only find there, and maybe their fangs are good to make stuff...

As mentioned in earlier reviews here, the skill system is a net gain: syncretized skills, simpler math. It's still a bad system, so it's like adding salad dressing to a turd. That's what we're talking about here: how the turd has been polished. [hr] I didn't mention this in the first post, but I ag...

What Pathfinder Did Right
The most noticeable difference between Pathfinder and 3e is the addition of thousands of shitty, pointlessly specific options (e.g. backgrounds & favored class benefits) that a person has to slog through just to create a character. But I was surprised to find some genuine improvements over 3e. C...

Well the Book of Gears thread doesn't seem to have any of that, and the Awesome Tome and Revised Awesome Tome also don't seem to, so I've never heard of any of those rules. As to if I like them or not... I don't think that I do as much. You're spending a ton of ranks on Craft, getting nothing direc...
